Eros - Removed as Ombudsman

I would like to point out that Eros won the poll in the nomination topic by a landslide (I think like 40 to 3 from the nearest competitor or something like that). I also notice that a lot of the people who have been complaining in the many topics that have been opened did not vote in that topic where people were voting for ombudsman. I think the name mojo rising, Auriel, and Ancient Anubis stand out as not having voted. If you didn't vote for anyone in the ombudsman topics, or if you voted for eros, don't complain about the job he did as ombudsman.

Hmm, well there are a few thoughts on that - perhaps you should read the other topics.

Secondly, the insult thing with Spacey about calling Eros a woman was an dumb argument. Eros shouldn't have made a big deal about it. The "choose your words carefully" also was a misunderstanding. What Spacey should have said was "please don't insult people in the mod section" and it would not have seemed like an insult.

Yes, it was dumb.

Third, obviously the mods shouldn't remove someone that had been in his job for 24 hours. How do you know how good he'll be if he isn't even given a chance to prove himself. It also disturbs me to think that the mods would remove him without even consulting the community. But if this forum is a monarchy, then maybe we should make a new forum where the mods are elected by the community and not chosen by Forum.

Remember, the mods do not have the power to remove anyone, nor did they.  The problem arose because Eros refused to work within the bounds of the ombudsman - instead he insisted on telling the mods what they should be doing and making statements like 'I'll set new rules and clear house if necessary' - which was way beyond his remit, and capability.  Also remember that the ombudsman must be able to work with BOTH the community and the mods and be able to a) listen to other people, and b) acknowledge when they are in the wrong.  Eros didn't listen to what anyone was telling him, and refuses to admit he is in the wrong ref Spacey calling him a woman, despite the fact that the vast majority of people are telling him he is wrong or misunderstood.

Fourth, I don't see why anyone should complain about Eros massing people who unjustly threw him out of his position after 24 hours because they realized that he might be an ombudsman who would make them accountable to the forum. Did anyone notice that during the times when we have a good ombudsman no mods get massed, but as soon as there was a transition where there was no ombudsman a mod got massed. Then when you threw out the ombudsman a whole bunch of mods and replaced him with someone you chose a massing is calling upon all of you. And I would like to add that I was never one of Eros's friends, I never knew him ingame, and everything i know about him is by reputation only. So nobody accuse me of being biased in his favor. Also, I have not read through the 50+ pages of spam and insults that this has caused so I may be lacking on information in some parts of this post.

You are claiming community support where there was none, and is none. With 70% in the opinion thread against you, the mod poll conclusively against you... you are simply making claims that aren't true.
It is starting to grate on me, that your only answer to the communities' constant flow of reason is to either scream "propaganda" or to continue spewing arguments that were refuted thrice over in past threads.

They decided to make spacey make one witty remark, a remark that they knew wouldnt offended most, but me, and try to get me to call him out on it, only to immediatly kick me out. And you should really read AND think before you reply. As I told you via pm - The point of stating you had not brought any user concerns to us in the post was to emphasise that you had caused all of this trouble, outside of the remit of the ombudsman's position - i.e. you had no authority to do the things you did (and some were done through ignorance because you never understood what you were arguing against) and you caused a storm in a tea-cup by insiting that you had been called a woman, despite Spacey's assurance that he didn't and despite everyone else (not just mods) telling you the same. Even by your own admission in one of your posts 'most normal people would not be offended by it' goes to prove how ludicrous it was.

I'm thinking of starting up a fund to buy you a new spade!

The poll was not against me or against spacey. It was me asking the community if he called me a woman or if I was seeing things. I was immediatly kicked out after making that poll (which was my way to resolve the controversy). The people never even really had a chance to answer it, I was already gone an hour after I made it. Which by the way was in the favor that Spacey DID call me a woman then. It now says he didn't, but because 20 some people think he did, it can be agreed that his remark was controversial and could be interpreted both ways.

Additionally, you had previously contacted that mod (me) to complain about moving the thread. I told you that even if I wanted to move it (which I didn't) I couldn't, because I could not (at the time) mod that section, therefore I couldn't move it. As I and others have made clear in the GalCol thread, the mod poll thread, the ombudsman poll thread, the woman poll thread, and this thread - what you are claiming is absurd.

The 'people' had the time to vote, and the time to post. Those that posted made it very clear that you were completely off base - at best you were being petty, at worst acting like a spoiled child.
Further, your numbers are also off base - read the thread, count the number of people for you, and against you at the time of your firing - the community was telling you to stop... and you didn't listen.

• You created one thread, the community didn't support you in it.
• Smooshable created this thread - you don't have support.
• You created a new thread, the community didn't support you in it.

You keep rehashing the same things each time, and each time it becomes even more clear why the decision to fire you was the correct one. If we are reusing an argument, it is because you have no counter - except to make a new thread, ignore it, call it propaganda, or claim to have answered it when you haven't.

At this point, there is no longer a 'debate'. You have labeled everything we say propaganda - accused our mods of all manner of absurdity - done all kinds of illogical loops in a vain attempt to make petty+ego=ombudsman - and on the whole, you've only succeeded in embarrassing yourself for those who have actually read what you've written.

#1 I made a constructive suggestion the Respect thread and after I found out it offended people I appologized. I have asked several moderators several times to make it public but they refuse to. Even though I was the author of the thread, posted it in the wrong place (since the respect group didnt want me to post there), and now I can no longer see it.

#2 Ofcourse I was. Look how bad things went without the rules. So it appears we find another reason why you the mods kicked me. You were afraid you would actually have some rules to follow.

#3 Ofcourse I made an issue of another man calling me a woman. I called him out on it, he refused to recognize that his statement could have been interpreted differently. I polled the community and even though most said he didnt, a very high number of people did, thus comming to the conclusion that I wasn't "crazy" to think he called me a woman and others believed the same. It was not a support me or spacey thread, it was a simple question I wanted answered.

#4 Ofcourse I warned you for doing something wrong. I would have warned every mod who broke a rule or did something to protect another person from justice.

#5 I polled the community to see if how they feel about the moderators. Since it's about the moderators, the moderators DO NOT HAVE A SAY in the poll, so I discounted all their votes (20 mods, 20 votes). The community is in agreement that you aren't doing a very good job.

#6 You have said the same thing over and over again, and I have replied with the same answers over and over again.
If you don't have something new, quit waisting my time and the readers times.

#7 Fact of the matter is I do have support. Just because you the mods think you are everyone who matters, I actually do i many "people who don't matter" behind me. You will see a few when we mass you, but you will see many at the admin meeting. We are not against all the mods, just mods in general as everybody behind me has an issue with atleast one moderator.

and the community didn't agree. I realized a couple of days ago that there was no way you would have seen this as to what the majority says. If the majority of people said that yes I did call you a woman, you would have used that number and said I was wrong. I would have agreed too. However, now, as the majority doesn't agree the argument is that even though that is the case a minority still sees it as offensive and make it controversial. Even if 100% said they did not think I was calling you a woman, the argument would have then been it was who you interpreted it, and I was still wrong.

From what smoosh said here about removing you, that was one part of it. In light of mass agreement that it wasn't anything offensive this still continues. You weren't removed for making a poll, or for having an opinion that was not in agreement with me or other vocal moderators.

I've said elsewhere that I'd stay out of this now, and I'll do just that. I will pm Jack about this (user mod ongoing dispute), and put him to work in his first 24 hours.

as the total mod count is 23, and we have a list here of 5 have to be subtracted...

plus, you also need to consider that the chat mods (homer and eriond), probably dont care that much about this... so they could probably also be discounted... with only the 5 on list above are removed, the total of your "20" is 18, with homer/eriond subtracted, it is 16... and there are probably several other mods that did not vote...

Do you also want to count the moderator multi accounts? Like the global mods and such? When's the last time they logged in? Cause I'm sure some have logged in them to vote twice. If the number doesn't exceed 20 then I'll change it, but I'm pretty sure it will and I'll still keep it at 20.
