Tourists buy goods that inhabitants don't want so if you did it many shops would need to close and it would hurt micro-economy

It was a phrase coined from a stereotype that the French are a morally repugnant society and therefore a morally taboo kiss must be called a French kiss. Wordorgins.org says the term dates from at at least the 1920's when most societies were pretty uptight about human sexuality.

We can credit the French for providing champagne, although I suppose someone else would have created fizzy vinegar eventually anyway.

And indeed at least they don't have bush as president and all this puritan-racist-selfcentered mass of people with VERY LOW culture bases. Sure there are the leaders, those who are cultured, but their case is alot worse so I'd better prefer to be one of moronic followers than one of cultured ones because they aren't stupid, and considering their beliefs and intelligence they are a serious danger to some group of people to consider.
