China vs the U.S.

China does not have ANY Power projection capabilities outside of their own land. They also have a poor navy with mostly old boats and technology. US navy has mostly new boats that have been upgraded and kept up AND have superior trained personal to command those boats.

Simply enough, China would loose ANY war nuclear or conventional unless its on its own land, although nuclear war would devastate china via the fact that China has no nuclear defense, and really doesn't have the delivery system to deliver nukes to the US in scales large enough to paralyze.

Chinese air force is mostly a soviet air force. No strategic bombers in enough quantities to do anything, and no air defense system to detect incoming bombers, let alone stealth bombers and fighters like the US would field in the war.

Ground war is China's best chance. With large numbers, they would be able to put up a large fight on their own land, but forget it if they were fighting in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, or anywhere else. Their navy does not have the capability to move troops in enough quantities to invade nations, the US has and has showed that it CAN do such a thing numerous times. China also utilizes rail heavily, and since they have very little air defense, the rail lines would be subject to immense bombing from the American bomber and fighter strikes.

Lastly, China also is in a screwed situation if they go to war with the US. Their economy is dependent on ours, whereas ours is flexible and would be able to receive goods from other nations such as Japan and perhaps nations in Africa which can provide cheap labor. China would have no jobs to keep their citizens happy, whilst their government goes on a campaign to "fight imperialist American capitalists" and exterminates the large amount of democratic supporters and thinkers who would likely throw over the government otherwise. The US would likely utilize this and tie up the Chinese military so that the people would overthrow their government, likely ending the war.

If it goes nuclear, US wins.
If conventional, US wins, but the war takes longer and China still loses.

Yeah, and I doubt the US commanders in the region would be dumb enough to engage in a land war, though drawing the Chinese on to Korea could give the appearance that China was an aggressor.

Taking nukes off the table, the US navy and air force are larger and more advanced than the Chinese equivalents, so an invasion of the US would probably be off the table. That said, they could mess up US interests or allies throughout the rest of the world.

You do realize that 100 nukes in 100 major cities will devastate the nation. As long as they keep 10 in reserve, they have the fear factor as well.

In china, they don't hear the news etc, and there is huge censorship, thus they will continue as mindless drones who go on despite anything. Chinese people are like termites. But in US, people aren't used to that type of life. If cities near me got nuked, I'd totally move to switzerland the next day.

Anyways, just where would US send those millions of nukes? Into rice fields?

First, does China have the ability to deploy all those nukes with missles? Because their bombers wouldn't make it.

As for where to launch the nukes, hit the eastern portion. Most of their industry is there. Not like it would really effect anybody except the Tibetans (who would most likely be subjected to a military dictatorship by which ever general was in command in the region)

Also, China is a very developed nation with plenty of targets for nuclear weapons. Saying they have just rice fields is kind of underestimating their power (and kind of offensive, but I won't really go there). The 12k nukes that the US has (and Russia for that matter) could take out all the major cities of the world. Reassuring, huh? They would also be enough to wipe out an entire country by overlapping fallout areas I would imagine.

But that's why I take nukes out of the picture, it messes with the more fun debate.

That might be true if we couldn't literally shove cruise missiles down their launch tubes.

We can eliminate over 90% of any countries nuclear arsenal, most modern nations can do it to us as well. The question is will they have enough?

China has several hundred leaving only about twenty lets say when were done, 20 nukes could definitely be a problem, but not as much as it used to be, plus they need to keep some in back up for other nations limiting the amount even more.

However if they were able (their not) to destroy 90% of ours, we'd have over a two hundred easily able to decimate china and many many more countries.


As for the chinese, of course they hear news, they have access to the internet and news and many others, where do you think all those brand new movies come from? For someone to say that all china has to nuke is rice patties is by far the most amount of stupidity, even if it was a joke, i've ever heard from anyone. Your an idiot.
