Mothership strike.

As it stands a current tactic is to use one turn at a time to whittle down your opponent's def during war.

I suggest that we include a special attack for motherships.

You press the mothership strike button and use only your mothership, in a one turn attack. The advantage is a slight attack modifier to your mothership as it can now make a suprise attack at full power; without worrying about ground troops. The drawback is that it collects no, or almost no, naquadah.

It also means you use no ground troops, just your mothership.

It would be interesting to see the battles, as you'll variably be faced with planetary defenses; or opposing motherships, backed by planetary defenses.

This adds a new strategy as you could use this to conserve troops, and naq in a war. Beyond that it is entirely within the realm of role-playing.
We often see mothership battles without ground support, in the show.

Not a bad idea - needs some expansion and clarification on exactly how it would work / be countered etc, but it is the basis for a good addition to the game.

Nice...not sure I fully understand but nice...

So its purely to enhance the roleplaying abillities of the game?

And wear down the motherships as well?

I'm confused...but RPG...R-P is important! I mean, we don't get much of that in SGW do we...

Otherwise all tollan would be dead by now, and the ancients suffering from plague...

I like the idea....but I think many people would complain its overpowered...
If the opposing player has a mothership, does yours fight it out with theirs before they can attack the ground troops, or is it just a quick cloak uncloak attack cloak hit and run?

Motherships are currently unbalanced in that they are too WEAK in their costs to me.

This could be great, with Tau'ri having Orbital Nuke Strike, Goa'uld having Alkesh Bomber Support, Repli having 'Assimilation beam', and Asgard having 'Mass Driver' or something.

That's what I really want - a big button that says 'Fire Mothership Mega Weapon' on my command console, just because it would be the definition of cool.

There should also first be a mothership battle in orbit, to see if the defending Mothership manages to drive away the attacker prior to the strike.

To even things out though, I say not only should you get no Naq for a mothership attack, but it should also cost Naq to fire determined by the number of attack weapons your ship has. That should balance it out, seeing as it would cost a shed load of cash for the big boys, yet still be affordable for the noobs. Makes a mothership strike something that requires careful consideration whoever you are.

I'd really like to see this implemented.

If they have a mothership, yeah, it would respond to a hostile suddenly appearing out of nowhere.

The whole cloak thing is simply this: The attack is modified to be slightly stronger than normal, because it is a suprise attack, and the attacker doesn't have to worry about hitting friendly troops.

*************************************************************

This isn't just for RP, it is simply fits with RP scenarios. This is a single attack, not using your ground troops, just your mothership. It would give players a chance to really start using motherships for strategic purposes.

maybe there could a choice of setting your mothership's stance like an attack neutral and defence stance making it better in the certain areas, but like a 1 day delay on changing stances so you cant just attack and then go to defend. But anyway i like this idea could go along way.

It would be nice to be able to put a mothership in 'defence mode' to increase your defence, but not be able to use it to attack, but there would need to be a minamun amount of time it has to be in defence mode (just like you have to have your slected comander for a set amount of time.

Thanks!

Perhaps as a response to the mothership strike option...

That's not a bad idea...
