I have Halo 2 for Windows Vista. The computer I am running it on handles the game beautifully, no problems there. my issue is with trying to modify the keyboard controls.
I would like to set E as the 'move forward' button, but the game tells me it is being used for another action and to clear that one out. However, I have already done so. none of the other actions/commands/whathaveyou use the E key, but I am still being told it is in use by some other control and thus cannot be used how I want it. I have managed to change the other controls/commands to what I would like (i use an ESDF layout as opposed to the standard WASD).
anyone got a clue? I don't, and Microsoft's support site is a frigging joke.

political correctness is a doctrine fostered by an illogical liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mass media that holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
I believe gun control is being able to hit your target.

wow, no replies whatsover. oh well, not like it's been that long. anywho - found a solution to my problem. by using the right combination of words in a Google search I found a topic in some random web forum about this exact same problem (apparently I'm not the only goober who uses an ESDF config.) wound up modifying the 'southpaw' preset which had no initial use for the E key. now I can play Halo 2 on my pc with a proper keyboard layout.

Re: looking for tech help
first off, this thread had been dead for weeks. why would go looking back for it, and especially why would you post to it? necromancy tends to annoy.
second - no, moving my fingers to the left isn't easier for me. by setting up the keys the way I am used to them my reaction time has increased and I play much more efficiently. I am quite certain I never would have beaten the game on heroic using the default WASD layout (and when I say this I am not simply referring to the movement keys. it is also most of the action commands).
