Complaining about Homer

Im here to complain about homer.
Im one of his opers.

So lets see where do i begin.

Homer is a bad man
why u say
One : well he takes all the time in the world to prep a server and prepare a new better place for IRC users.
Two : He does this and sets up a new Services (handles nickserv and chanserv) on his own because he hate the way things are setup. Back at u big guy
Three: after all this time he waits nearly two months on seemless pointless promises.
FOur: when he changes over He gets more users and a friendlier enviroment.

Why i hate him, cuz on teh old network there would of been 20 new glines by now...

Two Homer You are the worst person ever....
Why u ask
Because you care , you want chat to be better, you are optimistic (most of the time) and u are near and dea to all of our hearts in CHat.

Homer has proven that with the right kind of leadership things can change. He has made what was a seemingly dieing IRC network better and gave it new vigor. I thank you homer and my hat is off to u for your efforts.

1)

I came in chat, heard about the Ban on Mukasa, read the logs and showed the initial ones were uncalled for in a post. In that post I then go on to say that after the initial bans, subsequent ones were required and justified.

Homer Agreed when I approached him about it and there was nothing wrong with my post. I showed unfair bans and I showed Fair bans and stated i do not endorse rule breaking.

I came in chat the next day or so, Heard Homer going off about TLE again. After the previous encounter I just left #stargatewars rather then get into a fight. I did nothing against the slurs against Omega as I was indifferent, I wasn't CiA, I wasn't CoP. When faced with slurs against my own alliance, what did I do? I left the channel to avoid confrontation.

Quickshot84, possibly the best mate i'd found online [and planned trips with] who i'd known for over 2 years messaged me with a glare about why I left #stargatewars. He had recently regained his op status and so I confided in him my feelings about Homer Leaving my alliance Twice (BAU), Warring my other Alliance once (BTU) and slagging off at my current alliance (TLE). It was a statement of my opinion on his action and how those actions were all negative towards all of thel alliances I have been in.

Ergo I used my right of opinion as you say in PM to someone i'd known for years.

Quickshot84 then without telling or asking posts it word for word in #sgwops so that all ops can see what I wrote and confided to him about why i was feeling down and left #stargatewars.

Reading that, Homer Broke into my alliance channel using his OPER powers, bypassing +b +m +i /k to make a judgement on behalf of all irc that I had changed for the worse, making a direct attack on my character.

My opinion as voiced in PM was an Indirect attack on action. I didn't break into any channels, I didn't confront him about it, I didn't break any rules going about it. He did.

Feeling rather betrayed by Quicksho84 and exposed and threatened by an Oper who broke channel rules to abuse me not only on his behalf, but on the behalf of all irc, I made a post about it in the appropiate section which was utterly Ignored. No admission of wrong doing, no acknowledgement that it ever happened or even a word that what he did was clearly abuse of power.

Instead of addressing the issue I brougt up, other ops come in to attack other people's arguments, consciously ignoring the event that had occured.


Now for your points:

- #TL is now the second biggest channel around, I still get to talk to everyone i usually do.

- If I was free to have an opinion, why then did homer physically break into a channel he knew he shouldn't be in to attack me directly?

- As for provoking, Homer admitted my inital post was right, that those kicked were not warned and that the ops had stirred them up. Thats homer admitting i was right on that point.

- About slurs and opinions, I expressed my opinion, homer used oper powers to abuse me. Surely a mature man like homer who has a lot of responcibilities being the top authority on irc can handle that without resorting to that? So that point right back at you.

- Yes i Did confide in quickshot and yes he did break that trust permanently. Homer then broke into a private channel to abuse and admitted that his ops tell him everything. The public do not know that and so should be made aware that anything confided is publically exposed.

- Unfairly confronts me in my own alliance channel. Unfairly as in breaking in when he wasn't allowed. I don't go in his channels or channels i'm not allowed in, he went into mine he wasn't allowed in.

Who do you complain to if the issue is with the head Oper and the server owner? I took it first to the irc forums where it belongs. It was ignored. I took it to the talk to the mods direct forum. It was ignored. Finally I took it to general where homer was displeased at the reaction it generated.

- Homer declared himself innocent and that he never breaks his own rules. It is that admission of righteousness in the face of what I have stated that i am drawing a parallel to in that the concepts that Whitey was accused of, homer actions are bordering on. The actions are not the same, but the concepts are obviouslly there.

-It has taken two weeks to get a responce out of homer through him sending his Staff out to do the posting for him and ONLY after there was a public uproar. He was content to ignore the problem altogether and that was the major issue.

you of all people know i loathe forums balor, when we were both bau did i ever once post in tose forums? look at my post count(3 year memebr and 100 something posts)
i have not ignored any thing i know what i did was wrong and therefore left it be in hopes it would go away. and your channel at that tuime was not +i but that doesnt matter.

why? because u attacked my character same as i attacked your alliance. in my deffense u could have pmed me just as u said i could have to resolve this instead u chose to ignore me by leaving and posting crap about me in a pm. dont compare someone posting a pm to me as the same thing whitey did. I in no way breached network securty by spying on your pm, it was simply posted to me by the person u pmed.

i have broke my own rules i admit that. but i am human i do make mistakes im not perfect. but who can kick or punish me for that? i police myself and i think i do a hell of a job at it as do the 50 some odd users we have in chat nowadays on a regular basis. i will not defend my action on using my power to break into your channel and confront you i could have pmed you or sent a forum pm(allthough that would work cause i didnt know u changed your forum name...meh thats besides the point) in the heat of the moment i broke the rules i admit that, nothing i can do to rectify the situation. other than say im sorry.

It would solve a lot if TLE would just buy their own server to whine on, instead of funraping the SGW IRC with incessant whining.

Homer has been glined (banned from the network) for two days for breaking his own rules and for abusing his powers.

He's admitted he was wrong, he's apologised. He wants to start fixing things...

But nothing will be fixed if people don't accept what homer has done in the spirit he meant to do it in. He's not martyring himself or doing it just to prove a point. He recognises that he was wrong in the actions he took. He has apologised for it and duly accepted his punishment.

Shall we let this lie, now?

2 cents from me concerning issues I read about in our forums.

From what I understand from the 'invading homer' issue ... is that he lost his temper ..... and apologised ....

where as:
Whitey broke a bond trust with the users, one which could probably never be restored, One that could leave a stain on a service thats hard to loose. He left denying he used a certain piece of the software, but was warning others that the option was there. 'zoals de waard is .... '
Let me inform you that the module in question could not have ended up there accidently
Probably a good thing that not everyone understands what happened.

To me, these 2 are totally different issues and should not be compared in any way.
