CO seeing officer's planets.
I'd like to see a change where a CO can take a gander at the officer's planets, merlin etc.

No, don't have an account right now. No, not playing again until September (work beckons) - around and about until then.

Re: CO seeing officer's planets.
COs can see everything about their officer, presumably to help them out, figure out where the income is going and where the UP is coming from.
I'd like to know if my officer's have good planets, I'd like to keep track of their planets if they are in a war (or I am) so if one gets conquered I see more than a number in my logs.
I'd like to be able to say, Okay, look, 1000 ain't gonna cut it on the dual. Or give them grats when they improve something.
It's for the same reason that I check to make sure that they haven't messed up their army too badly, that their UP is on the rise if that is needed, that their income is still flowing nicely and how I check up on their miner sizes.
Considering that we can see and help with all that, why not planets as well, it's a huge, huge part of an account now.

Re: CO seeing officer's planets.
Couldn't you just ask? There may be (and are) reasons why an 'officer' may not want their CO to see their planets.

Re: CO seeing officer's planets.
if the officer doesn't want them to know then they shouldn't have that commander
maybe it would stop people picking a commander based purely on bonuses
and it takes time to ask and to get answers

Re: CO seeing officer's planets.
Aye, it matters what type of commander you are.
But if you don't trust your commander, that's... sorta ugly (imo at least.) If I can see everything else about them, I might as well see the planets. I mean, I can't attack my officers - so in order for me to do them harm I would have to dismiss them and then attack them.
I'm not "old school" at this game or nuffin, so I don't know when the officer look-see things for the commander were implemented and when planets were implemented, but I may take a "guess" that perhaps the officer stuff was implemented before planets, so planets just never made it in.
As said at the beginning though, it matters what type of commander you are. I like keeping track of my officers. I like seeing their stats, how they are growing, what they are doing and chat with them frequently as well as send them out mails letting them know my status, what my plans for the week are as well as where my income is.
Some people don't need protection or help, some just want a large extra income *shrug* but I'd say that that may not be the majority. Especially in alliances (both new and older) where the pairing may be for mentorship.
With planets being able to be welling over 3/4 of your UP and a metric crudton of income as well as viable for defensive and offensive tactics, I like knowing how my officers are setup...
Again, though, just me.
As a "safety" thing he could also put in a "do not allow CO to see stats" checkbox near the CO's name.

Re: CO seeing officer's planets.
I wouldn't mind at all if my commander seen my full planets stats my military records or anything a commander don't see would even prefer it to be so.
But I guess many people don't trust their commander enough if not at all as they choose them for income (lol @ people runnin after PPT accounts to get more extra then leave)...damn what do I have to hide from my commander? Nothing!
Unloyal officers FOR SHAME!!!

Well, in my experience, people generally end up with commanders through loyalty.
However, I have also seen events where commanders and officers fall out and the officer leaves - so if the commander was able to view the planets and their officer then left, they could use that knowledge for their own/ally's benefit - i.e. they'd know exactly which ones to hit first to cause the most disruption.

Re: CO seeing officer's planets.
I think it would be quite logical for a commander to see everything from his officers, planets included.
If the commander and officer split up, and the commander takes planets, then either the commander has to be an ass or the officer would have done something to deserve it.
Anywaysz, I like the idea.

Re: CO seeing officer's planets.
If the officer deserves to be attacked for something, then I'm sure the commander, or an ally (or both) can quickly gather the information on the planets (especially now that the covert capacity has been increased to 100).
As for the former commander potentially attacking a departing officer - unfortunately some people will not need much of a reason for that.
I don't know, I'm not hugely against this idea - but it seems to me that it is harder to spy planets for a reason, therefore it should also be harder for commanders to see those planets belonging to their officers.
My main opposition is that I don't see any real purpose behind it. You don't need to see an officer's planets in order to advise them what planets they should have, and how they need to protect them.

Re: CO seeing officer's planets.
As I aforesaid, if people don't want the CO to see, just add in a checkbox that they don't have access to the Officer Info pages.
In theory the CO doesn't need any of that, the officer can just cut and paste everything in.
Also, in theory, we didn't need larger fields, it's in inconvenience trading back and forth with a cap of 1 Trill or 1M weapons, but none of that was "necessary" or had a purpose other than making it "easier" for people.
A lot of the changes are things that make life easier and flow a bit better in SGW; for COs who want to take a hands on approach to their officers, this would make it easier and flow a lot better rather than asking for pastes and updates all the time.
The information a CO already has is much more harmful than seeing their planets, we can see the EXACT time someone comes off PPT, what each naq of their current income is, how many UU they have out.. while we can't hit them, that information is far more damaging in the wrong hands than seeing their planets.
And, as was pointed out, you can just spy them and find out anyways. With 100 capacity now it's infinitely easier - so it's not really like they have anything to hide.
So, why NOT make life easier for the CO. I don't think it would be damaging to the player and it would just make it all simpler. And if he can add in a function where they can deny the CO access to their personal information and you have a win/win thing from both sides of the CO/Officer equation.
