In your command center, there is a link to your officers page. From there, you can click "dismiss them" to remove them from your officers list.

If you want to lose your own commander, find your own stats page in the rankings, and click "make this user my commander". Then you can keep yourself as commander for a 20% bonus on unit growth. Or you can use the above to dismiss yourself afterwards, leaving you with no commander. This gives a 10% bonus to troop production, and a 10% bonus to naquadah income/turn.

As soon as you build an idiot proof system, somebody else builds a better idiot.

If it moves, kill it. If it doesn't move, kick it until it does move, and then kill it.
