Silly I know, but I am curious as to other's opinions and would like to know how others feel, and think about this topic. Below are a couple reason's that I know of that make people view this word as offensive.
Some parents I know forbid kids to say this word along with other mild offensive ones. Far be it for me to question the parenting methods of my friends, and therefore refrain from using this word around their children.
Additionaly offensive language in prime-time television changes age and content-based ratings for television programs. And the word "hell", is one of those words that will change that rating.
If anyone else would share their opinion or experiences as to weather this word is offensive or not, I would surely appericate the chance to read them.
PLEASE stay on subject and do not spam!!

Im sorry to bring it up again, I acually had no clue that someone else had brought this topic up before. I brought it up because I was reading the rules earlier today and wondered what mild offensive lanuage was inapporiate, specially if SGW is a family orientated game and content must be suitable for children. Not to mention I had seen the word tossed around a bit, and knowing parent that would deem this word amongest others as "dirty" words. Wanted to know others opinions and weather or not it was apporiate.

Seems a lot of people, including mods, didn't think it was. Think mods should set which words are banned words and which aren't. It will soon get to the point when 'stupid head' will get you a warning.

I was told off when I was young for saying "damn", which these days is quite laughable considering what I have heard some kids of the same age say.
Hell is a theoretical place.
If 'hell' is to become a curse, then shouldn't "purgatory" and "Santa's House" and "Mordor" and anything else that isn't really a proven place be placed into the same category.
It's more of a describing word for the most part. "I feel like I'm in hell".
No one knows what hell would be like, we all just go by what we have been told, or what we imagine it should be. At the end of the day, it may or may not exist, so it's a little silly to be taking it as an offence.
Just my 2 Australian cents.

It's not a matter of luck; it's just a matter of time.

Im pretty sure where i work comes dam close.
Deep within Noob Cave, you find a strange pool filled with a glowing blue liquid. You think back to what your mother told you about unfamiliar liquids found in caves.
You're pretty sure she said "Drink it! What's the worst that can happen?"

Locked.
Reopened as I hadn't realized I'd locked the other one. Keep this thread civil and on topic or I'll be locking it.

I agree.
I think its important that it gets expressed which words are deemed offensive. As I iterated before there are parents that do see mildly offensive words such as hell offensive and televison and other sources of entertainment have been forced to change their content ratings due to these concerns. I think that SGW forums should follow these examples, and enforce the same kind of cencorship to words that might be deemed as offensive or unwanted to the view of childern.

Well personally the word hell isnt a curse word. I have said far worse to relatives and parents.
But in some religions they find the word hell a bad thing. In the end its just your opinion about the word.

Voted it is a curse word (as it is used mainly in that context). But I don't care.
