And seriously.. Greece stand against Rome, had the Macedonians not subdued them? The prime reason Macedonia subdued them in the first place was the incessant internal turmoil of the Greek polis. Aside from a lack of true politicians who looked BEYOND the borders of their own state..
Phillip spent 22 years fighting to unite the Greeks so he could wage war with Persia, that in itself was enough to wear down the Greeks to the point it only took Alexander 18 months to accomplish what took his farther 22 years, NOW...if Rome was a power and wanted to attack Greece say 1 year into Phillips campaign against the Greeks do you really think Rome could have stood a chance when Persia repeatedly attacked Greece with much larger army's and still failed, even with shear weight of numbers?
if Rome had attacked Greece at that time Rome would have failed because the greeks would have done what they do best...
argue for days in a council to decide what to do against an aggressor. then they would have chosen a commander to rally behind and plan a defense.
once the aggressor was beaten back into the sea they would then return to squabbling and infighting while stabbing each other in the back lol
