Re: The Aftermath....
Ok as for the parties involved (non admins as those faces remain nameless at least to me)
Almost- Absolutely no remorse for his actions as far as the posted comments. Why should he be let in the game at all. Obviously he doesn't see that he caused any harm.
JMX- Appologized for what he did in a half-hearted way and then went on continuing to be the same JMX as always. Remorsefull? Maybe. Perhaps. Should he be let back in? In my eyes he has a better case than Almost so as for him I sit on the fence.
Judo- Appologized with what appeared to be genuine sincerity and as far as from what I've seen posted has not said anything different or acted like he feels nothing but remorse. Should be looked on from a more positive light than either of the above.
All in all should people be posting continually for banned people? No. I have no problem with people having appologies posted for them in the forum. Going further than that I do not agree with. You are banned so shut your mouth and have some common sense. Learn when to stop.
Either way, Jason will have his say in the end about these people that tried to destroy the integrity of the game. Then I have a feeling the community will employ it' s own brand of justice. Time will tell.

Re: The Aftermath....
if they are not banned... then others could go and say .. hey admin gave me 1m uu... they will be banned and some days later after 15 pages of people saying , talking discussin and complaining about it the dude will get his account back... HELL NOOOOOO
They need to be punished, one way or another, they recognized their mistake but have not make anything at all to reverse some of the damages, like a public statement in the game about what they did , how they did, why they did, what their intentions were, who helped, who knew about it. Public not like right now, cause as far as i see they are the only ones getting fired and have not see any mods attacked here, cause they were part of it.
Maybe after they make this all public and let all SGW comunity know it all , they should be forgiven by comunity , and maybe then comunity should ask , or say that they should not be permanently banned!

Re: The Aftermath....
I think it should be fairly obvious to everyone that this was nothing more than an April Fool's prank that, for whatever reason (probably lack of forethought), got way out of hand.
To suggest there was some malicious intent to destroy the integrity of the game (or some other sinister motive) is, I think, a case of people looking for something that simply isn't there.
Like most great conspiracies, it is being fuelled by paranoia.

It's the fact that once it started getting out of hand they failed to end it.

What 'didn't happen', exactly?

Depends what you mean by 'it' - but having looked over 'the thread' it does seem that there were ample opportunities to call a halt earlier.

Re: The Aftermath....
The fact is '' the joke'' , who it was directed to, and what they did say or do.
A mistake can be done by anyone or everyone, ive done serious **Filtered** even in RL, i do not believe JMX have the right to say earlier xmas presents are coming for those who asks him to be banned in a permanent way, but also i do believe that if things are not straight up then
It's the fact that once it started getting out of hand they failed to end it.[/quote]they do not deserve mercy.
It is also just a game so i think we should show mercy on them as they have apollogized or something like it but i still believe this all most be set to public and let us know WHO in the mods team were involved.
Might be just paranoia, its also the right of many to be respected, like in this case ADMIN J , and players of the game who in the moment were dissapointed about it! maybe its becoming or have become a big scandal, but then this is the way for all players to say they are present they back up J or simply that we all want to know the truth about it!

Re: The Aftermath....
OK i really didn't wanna post here, but i fear this is getting out of hand, once again.
Wolf's perfectly right. An april's fool joke got out of hand.
Who are you to judge the guys who did it? The only one who can and has the right to do so IS admin Jason. Simple. They pulled a prank (a bad and tasteless one) and it went wrong. I know all those who are involved and i can assure you there was NO malicious intend to end it or to make the game close. LOL. Get over yourselves and read again what you're posting.
Almost, Judo and JMX invested a long time in the game, they do not want it closed. They love the game. Jeez. Stop making an elephant out of a fly.
In short, if admin decides to punish them, he can and he should. It's by all means his game. If admin decides not to, well all of you others contradicting you: you have no say here so shut it. Sorry if my aggro post offends or insults anyone, i've had a tough evening.
And if someone has any problems with my post, feel free to look me up in the game, name's Curumo both main and ascended.

I'm not disagreeing with you - but part of that is, again, speculation - and believe me I've seen more people leave (or consider leaving) over more trivial things than this, and less people leave (or consider leaving) over less trivial things.
My point is, for at least some of those 'involved', that I don't believe they truly intended or thought anything malicious would come of it (and some might debate whether anything malicious has come of it), and their sole indescretion may simply be nothing more than agreeing (foolishly, maybe) to take part in this prank, and that the current wave of outrage is fuelled by paranoia, speculation and (possibly), to some degree, of some people jumping on a witch-hunt bandwagon.
I'm not by any means saying anyone is completely innocent, but I don't think that some of them are as guilty as some people are making them out to be.
unitedabominations wrote:Might be just paranoia, its also the right of many to be respected, like in this case ADMIN J , and players of the game who in the moment were dissapointed about it! maybe its becoming or have become a big scandal, but then this is the way for all players to say they are present they back up J or simply that we all want to know the truth about it!
There's that word again....
.... 'it'.
Please state what 'it' is.
At the same time you said 'in the moment' - and quite right! If some people at the time believed it was genuine then they had every right to be outraged. But now that 'the moment' has passed, and they know that actually it was a 'joke' that went too far, is there really any need for continued and persistent accusations - which, by your own admission that 'we all want to know the truth about', may be unfounded or unjust?
But again my point seems to have been missed - It has become a big scandal because we, the forum users, have turned it into a big scandal - not because it was! It was a 'joke' that was, perhaps, ill-thought out by some of those involved, and went too far - but it is little more than that.
What you said in the quote above I agree with, completely - about backing up Jason and wanting to know the truth - but that's not what I'm getting at - I'm getting at those people who are making accusations based on speculation, without knowing the truth.
Frankly, from a personal perspective, I'm disappointed I wasn't able to get online much until late on April 1st, as I'd got wind of a potential prank the day before. Had I been on and seen what it was turning into, I'd have stopped it sooner.
I support Jason, 100% - I wouldn't be a member of the mod team, and wouldn't have been involved with SGW for over 3 years if I didn't. I haven't spoken to him about this, and do not like to speak for anyone, let alone SGW's creator, but I hope that he can see that some of those that are being 'strung up' by some people in this thread, may not be as guilty as everyone is making them out to be.
Now, I do not have all the answers, and have only stated what I believe - I want to know the truth about it all as much as the rest of you - but until that truth is known, let's not all start acting as judge, jury and executioner.
Now a modding bit.....
I've started asking those involved what their version of events was, to try and piece together what actually happened, instead of speculating. So far I've managed to have a conversation with one of the alleged guilty party. What I intend to do is speak to the others and then pass on what I find, and my thoughts to Jason and the community as a whole. Until then I would respectfully request that people try and look at this objectively and that unfounded accusations cease.
By all means, state your opinion on what you thought of the 'prank', but keep accusations (especially ones you can't back up because you don't know the truth (as some people admit), or all the facts) and demands for what must happen to yourselves, because all it serves is nothing more than to stir up more emotion and tension to a situation that has obviosuly upset some people.

yet both of you fail to take into account the fact that personal information of a player was leaked, and they assisted a permabanned user with access to the forum. regardless of the intent, this alone is enough to have hefty punishments passed their way, and thats not even considering the results of what did happen. even if you claim this wasnt done in malice, in the posts of Almost38 for example he continues to reject the reality of what he did, what it has cost, and the only hint of an apology wasnt directed at those he hurt. perhaps not malice but negligence or perhaps just plain ignorance?
given the attitudes of those involved, Judo i think may be genuine in his apology, however im not too sure about JMX. considering threatening people with his account, not exactly the same feeling i get from someone genuine in their apology. it doesnt sit right with me.

I agree with a lot of what you say there - but I would stress caution (as I have previously in this thread) about accusations of 'leaked personal info'. From what I have seen, the info leaked was already available in the public domain, and whilst the ethics of reproducing it are questionable, the ilegality of posting it is suspect - as, yet again, we do not know the whole truth as to whether it was obtained from the public domain. (If anybody does know more about this, then please elaborate).
I would also stress - as I have done many, many times in the past - as have the vast majority of the mods I have worked with - that the forum (outside of roleplay) and the game are separate - and it is not for any forum user, mod or otherwise, to state what punishments should be administered (or not) in-game for forum offences. That is down to Jason, and Jason alone. The fact is, he has administered some punishment - how permanent that becomes remains to be seen and will, hopefully, be admnistered depending on what 'truth' can be uncovered.

Re: The Aftermath....
OK, I am not here to judge, or accuse anyone of those involved in the prank, but as I said in my post on page one, I was about to quit this game if even the slightest hint of it being true was brought to light, let me tell you why.
I have been playing for over 2 years now, I have seen crap of all sorts happen ingame and on the forum. Some of which I have questioned, and some of which I wouldn't believe for a moment. Alas, with all of the other bits going around, like people saying that certain alliances have Jason in their back posket and such. Now granted, this is Jason's creation and he can do as he pleases with it, But I have seen many of other games go offline because of similar stunts and crap that has happened in the last few months here, on those games. Now I am not saying that any of what is out there on this forum is true, but there is enough of it on here to make some people question.
I do respect Jason for his creation, and for how long he has had it running. Most of us know that there aren't many other games similar to this that have survived even a fraction of the time this one has exsisted. What I think I am trying to get at with all of this is this, with each accusation against each other that "involves" admin needs to be stopped or at least given strict warning because eventually people will become disillusioned with it all.
