"Alliance in war" indicator
I thought it would be useful if you can see on the battlefield, who's alliance is currently in war. So you can more easily avoid being a vulture.

Re: "Alliance in war" indicator
Great idea, but it should only work if each alliance declares an alliance war with each other.
Deep within Noob Cave, you find a strange pool filled with a glowing blue liquid. You think back to what your mother told you about unfamiliar liquids found in caves.
You're pretty sure she said "Drink it! What's the worst that can happen?"

Re: "Alliance in war" indicator
Actually this indicator will scream more like: "i`m at war, free farms for all".
I do not use the term vulture and i don`t like someone to call me a vulture. I attack whoever i want, whenever i want. It`s my right to play the game. If someone who is in a war can`t keep his income, he should have avoided the war in the first place.

exactly what I was going to say - after all, those in alliance wars don't keep their attacks to just those involved in the war do they!
I'm on the fence - on the one hand, it would be good - so people can avoid alliances in wars if they want to - but nigatsu_aka's point of drawing attention to the fact a war is going on also rings true.

Re: "Alliance in war" indicator
I'm also on the fence on this one.
I do see that it would be a good idea, but I do see it will also advertise who is vulnerable due to wars.
However, I have always felt that vulturing should not be deemed punishable because those that are in wars often farm and raid outsiders in a bid to help them in their war. Even when those outsiders ask them to stop they don't stop. Therefore it should be acceptable to farm and raid people that are in a war.
War comes with consequences, and those consequences are that your defences are destroyed and possibly sat on and therefore your resources are vulnerable. No-one can expect to be left alone whilst they are in a war!
If you want to go to war then you should accept the fact that resources may be stolen from outsiders who see the opportunity to take it.

Re: "Alliance in war" indicator
Enough alliances take a crackdown on vultures - most people know what they risk. Vulturing is a part of the game, dealing with the vultures another part of the game.
Just don't complain when, a few weeks or months down the line you get a nasty mass and a note saying that this was retaliation for 7 weeks ago
This is a consequence game, everything you do may end up in something bad (or good) happening, just matters how much you are willing to risk. Whenever you attack a person you run the risk of them, their friends, their friends' friends, their alliance or someone they hire massing you.
It's a good concept to have an "at war" indicator, but I think unnecessary. I realize a lot of people don't read the forums, but you can put the information in planets.
Or, as an alternative (as planets disappear and are merlin'd.) Have a "REALM COMMENT" like we do in ascended that you can have in main. Just something next to your name with whatever comment you want in it that can be seen from the main rankings/attack page. So if people want to put "IN WAR" they can.

No, don't have an account right now. No, not playing again until September (work beckons) - around and about until then.

Re: "Alliance in war" indicator
having too many indicators would only make it messy...

"Great holy armies shall be gathered and trained to fight all who embrace evil. In the name of the gods, Browsers shall be changed to carry the internet out amongst the peoples and we will spread Firefox to all the unbelievers. The power of the Firefox will be felt far and wide and the wicked users of IE shall be converted to use the true browsers."

Except the vast majority of wars fought in this game are done so without the use of the official in-game war feature. The TO/FUALL conflict, which resulted in a great number of vultures being massed, is one such example.
Personally, I think this idea sucks. It's another case of players wanting to be wrapped in cotton wool and asking admin to solve their problems for them. This is a WAR GAME, and attacking someone is a RISK. If go attacking people willy nilly, and are either too stupid or too bone idle to do your research on potential targets, then you deserve everything you get.

people who randomly mass those who hit them in war are totally gay. it's immature and if you are the type to do that, then you deserve to be vultured and sat on the whole time ur in war
also, people may not read the forum.. but i dont look at the planets unless i want a new one... soo that doesn't work either!
having an at war indicator would be great... not to avoid vulturing, but to find those that have low defenses! i hate the term vulture, because there is no such thing. if somebody has a lower defense than my strike, then im taking their **Filtered**... period.
you wanna hit back? fine, we'll tango.. but bringing in your alliance is just a fairy move

Re: "Alliance in war" indicator
Im sorry but some dudes have no real life and can be in the forums and see who is in war and who isnt, and others cant, sometimes i cant and some other times i can. Im not vulture for attacking someone is in war, if u guys are at war is your own problem, not mine, but i see noone crying for been in war and then attacking me when im not in the war , i cannot complain, so the vulture system works fine as an excuse for those in the alliance and not the ones out of alliances in the war.
Maybe a lil announcement in top of the page of attack saying wich alliances are at war at the moment, wont be so difficult for players to check, just alliances names.
Vultures my a** btw, only vultures really are those who excuses their masisng actions for some hit, ITS A WAR GAME STOP CRYING , if u dont like others to farm u when u are in war, then step out and build an alliance and name it like this ALLIANCE OF THOSE WHO WANTS WAR BUT NOT HITS FROM OTHERS CAUSE IM A CRYING BABY
( for those who didnt like my comments, well get in the line JMX haves first ticket to mass me and there are already 7 dudes waiting to mass me so... who cares i just said something it is true, like it or not )

Re: "Alliance in war" indicator
I agree that the whole 'vulture' thing is nonsense - and it's a massive (and cowardly) double standard that alliances or certain members of alliances scream 'vulture' if they are attacked while they are at war, yet they see it as perfectly legitimate to farm people not involved in their war.
On the other hand, I'm still on the fence on the suggestion - because the other side of it is that it would be a massive advert for people who do prey on alliances in war.
So, ultimately, why should it be made easier one way or the other?
It's like anything else in life - your information doesn't come from one source. It's exactly the same in SGW - the best players get their information from more than just the game.

Re: "Alliance in war" indicator
something simular to real life, why not a 'News station' something that broadcasts which alliances are at war.
