Ascended bug ? 5times bigger

I had destroyed military and my spies were killed. Its mostly ??? but in the end one action was repelled and it showed me the name.
Problem is, that even after i lost 400mil planets that guy whose name showed in my history of deceipt is more than 5 times smaller than me...so how the hell he could do the attack on me [Destroy Intelligence Repelled] ???? isnt it that 5 times bigger/smaller cant hit each others? or its only bigger cant hit smaller? Also all hits [destroy military and Destroy Intelligence wre made in 3 minutes...
even if that guy got his friend to do that instead of him how was he able to do that last hit ?
I would ask to check those things since something stinks...i checked now and ye i cant get this guy since im 5times bigger. it sucks tbh and i really ask to cehck that and if its exploiting any bug i would ask to do something about that.

well, it depends on the size he was before, i assume he was close to the 5x as small mark when he started and that last failed destroy military attempt cost him a LOT of planets, thus dropping him under the limit. And yes, the limit applies both ways, he can't attack you (anymore). It's why the 5x rule totally sucks and can be easily exploited. For all you know he deliberately failed that last one knowing it would take him out of your size range, at least until he grew again (and has regenerated some AT's).

Hmm, sounds like a bug then, if he can hit you, you should be able to hit him. Only exclusion to this i can think of is if he is within his 60 days of ascending and you are trying to personally assault him. You can't personally assault people until they have been playing ascended for 60 days i think, but there is nothing to stop you using any other attacks, or shouldn't be.

I think you can still do assassin strikes, but not normal army attacks

It is also possible that he left the assault and you and moved to another and continued to dwindle down his size knowing it would remove you from his strike zone. Is his CER large enough to have gotten him in range in a few days time? If so I'd say thats how he did it.
