New Idea - Meet the mods???
Today I had contact with some of the old and newer members of this community. The subject we discussed was the lack of trust in the mod team from the forum users. We all know that this is true and therefor they came up with the idea of holding a simular admin meet but instead with the staff of the forum. There you can bring up complains/tips/ideas or what ever you want to discus with the forum staff. Therefor please fill in this poll wether you are interested and would visit the meets or not.

Re: New Idea - Meet the mods???
meet the mods? LMAO
the way this forum is going the mods will out weigh normal members before long. Maybe as the community is in a minority it should be titled "meet the users"

Re: New Idea - Meet the mods???
Where does it end?
Tea and stickies around the Admin's house on a Saturday afternoon?
An ombudsman was created for the community to ensure that the mods are doing their job correctly, yet it seems that isn't enough for some people - despite the fact that the ombudsman hasn't (certainly to my knowledge) received many (any?) complaints and as yet has had no reason to question the ability of any mod. It seems to me that the ombudsman that was wanted is vastly underused as I have seen many moans and whines in the forum about mods, yet none seem to go through the official channel, the ombudsman, that we all wanted.
Is there a trust issue, or do people just like to complain? Personally, I've never been on the end of any trust issues with the community (certainly none that I'm aware of) - and I have to say that back when we had no meetings, and the mods enforced the rules strictly, there were no issues at all.
As a mod I don't expect to be liked or loved - I just do my job. If people don't like it - fine - and if they can present a logical argument as to why my modding is wrong, I'll reconsider it. But, I didn't agree to be a mod so that I could take part in organised meetings so people can get to know my character or tell me/suggest things! Why would I? People already talk to me and do that in the forum and in MSN.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - this group of mods is the best I have seen for a long time - certainly since the very early days - and I've been a member of the mod group more than most and have seen good mods and bad mods come and go (good ones before their time, and bad ones beyond their time in some cases!). They are fairer than some other previous mods and they are a damned sight more sensible than a lot of mods we've had - and I have yet to witness or hear of one act in which any of them have actually absued their position - and I CAN'T say the same of some previous mods!
As it stands, I can't think of any mod issues that cannot and should not be dealt with through the ombudsman - the point is - the ombudsman, which everyone wanted, is not being used as it should be - people just prefer to moan in the forum, whether they are ignorant of the ombudsman's role, trying to look clever, or whatever.
I now issue a challenge to anyone who has 'trust issues' with any or all of the mods - send me a pm detailing why you have these issues - and some evidence to back it up.
Whatever happens, I'll tell the community what I've already told the mods - I don't have either the time or inclination to attend organised gatherings to discuss things that I already do via the forum, pm, in-game and MSN.

Who cares?
Mods do their thing, regular users do their thing.. if something happens it'll get sorted.. End of story..
