Umm.. normly my ideas are too big an strange to implement easily, but perhaps this will be simpler somewhat... at least comparitively.
Two little things, first of all, how about an option for people, inside the game, to transfer history files to thier own pc/harddrive, either as a copy, or as the only copy, this may alleviate some strain on the servers harddrives perhaps, and perhaps even speed it up somewhat since alot of the info might be saved on the personal pcs makin it only accessed by them, not all of it from the server.
The other thing is that perahps thier might be another history option added, by history i mean attack/defense/spy logs, forces lost damages, etc, and that is that perhaps another tab be added which would be the grand total for each person as far as all the past attacks added up to.
like say yourve attacked 09823 people in the past of all your gameplay, then thats shown as total attacks, and under that would be total defenses from other peoples attacks, followed by attack forces damaged/lost total,
defense forces damaged/lost total, total naq stolen, total naq lost, spys lost spy missions, sab missions.
you know, all those totals kept, an then you could like have the eprsonal total naq produced, total untrained :made, lost, sent, converted. Etc. it would be interesting to know that and perhaps make it easy for people to see mistakes and ways to improve, and just cool to know...
perhaps if they leave this game they could even keep a copy of the totals a momento. Even awards given when people return thier accounts to forum if they plan to totally restart or leave, which would be something cool and then reward people with stuff in hopes they wont sell thier accounts....
A quick, perhaps even somewhat simple addon

I kinda like the idea of the total number of attacks etc being kept (option 2?). Additionally - the attack/intel logs are recording everything again, even though it still says past 5 days!
I'm not sure people would want to clutter up their own hard drive with attack logs though.

Here's the easy way to impliment most/all of this: Stand-Alone Program.
I might keep some sort of general record, but I probably wouldn't keep all of the individual reports.
If you compress it with even a simple LZ (but optimized) algorithm, it should drasticly reduce the space they take up (or you could use a seperate file format for the logs), though I still wouldn't keep them around.Wolf359 wrote:I'm not sure people would want to clutter up their own hard drive with attack logs though.

People downloading their logs would simply increase the server load and consume more bandwidth and execute more SQL queries. YAY. It would also not lighten the database, why would Admin/Forum make a database that destroys potentially vital information when someone decides to take a copy for themselves. This would require Forum's time to implement, more bandwidth consumption, more processing power for more queries, yeah... useful. Keep track of your own records if you really care, lol.

HAPPY HALLOWS EVE!!!!!!!!!!
I thought that all this stuff is transfered from the server to our pcs every time we access the game? at the very least whenever we access the logs and the ingame mail, i mean the server ends up transmitting all the data including the old stuff. wouldnt it be alleviating if the text form of all that was automaticly transmitted to be kept in our pcs and only updated whenever we checked the newest logs rather then temporarily stored as cookies? i mean sure its still useing the server but less data has to be saved if we can just transfer alota the text logs/mail to our pcs if we wanted and then the servers versions were deleted, even if bandwidth isnt really saved it may make some room on the harddrives if enough did it.
