Re: WORST movie ever
definitely solaris. thats the worst film ive ever had the misfortune to see. i saw the trailer for it and it looked ok. after watching the film i realised every interesting part of the film was in the trailer.
i bought it at asda. once i found out how bad it was i took it back. normally you cant get a refund on a dvd unless its defective, especially if its been opened and watched (thats asda policy). i told the assistant i wanted to return it as it was so terrible. she promptly gave me my cash back with a nod of understanding. then she said she had also seen it and knew how horrible it was to watch. this film is torture. i hate it. if i ever see geroge clooney i will be sure to beach-slap him for inflicting this on the world

Scream! Oh dear god! Another ass! How dare you! They were the last classic Horror movies to be made. Wes Craven the man.
Id agree about the Borat though. I think universally people all agree on the two scenes your thinking of.

Re: WORST movie ever
I have a few to list off the top of my head:
* Not another teen movie
* The Wedding Planner (with J.Lo)
* Children of Men
* Lost in Translation
I know that Lost in translation got a really good wrap from most reviews, but I failed to see the "wow" factor, or the "genius" I was told that it concealed.
Children of Men was so awful that I wanted to leave the cinema 10 minutes into it, just to spare myself, but I was there with a friend and I guess she's just more masochistic than me. That said, I have warned many against this movie, and most ended up seeing it and telling me "omg you were right.. it was terrible". Not just terrible in the storyline sense, but the whole movie is doom and gloom and utterly depressing, because it's a "not too difficult to believe" futuristic look at what our world could be reduced to.
The other two are self explanitory.
If anyone reads this and disagrees with my Children of Men comments though, I'd love for you to PM me and we can discuss it more. That movie disturbed me to no end...

It's not a matter of luck; it's just a matter of time.

Re: WORST movie ever
Worst Movie is a difficult one for me.
I did media for several years and one of my social groups are the film studies students and we always came up with ideas and spend afternoons at a bar or an outing for dinner talking about all things Stories [So Film/Books/Writing/ideas] and this question keeps popping up.
The answer is what makes a movie bad. You have script plausability for its given genre and agenda, whether it evokes the desired reactions as well as the central story and concepts or novums it introduces. Then there are the typical production values with lighting/sound/filming, choice of camera, lens, ratio, film and style and if they mange to pull it off to create a unique experience that enthralls its viewers. On top of this is acting to give it believability and bring about this staged work of fiction to reality and then all these combined to enjoyment, entertainment and enlightenment [depending on the purpose of the movie and target audience and if it manages to make the mark]. You can quickly see that things get a whole lot more complicated and can be broken down in numerous subissues encapsulated by the reaction of the audience and their experience.
In essense, I find that "Bad low budget" movies can often be more entertaining then "good" movies, with a high rewatchability factor and make those great arvo's of Beer, Pizza and B grade movies with mates around.
Likewise certain art house or big budget social critique flicks I dislike intensly but the media student in me can't help but admire how they pulled off this effect or used this and that to achieve xyz effect.
However there are a few movies I have stopped watching:
Metal Storm
Crusaders
Blood of Beasts
Fei ying (Silver Hawk)
Dark Portal
See No Evil
Game Over
Timebomb
Dracular 3000
UltraViolet
Cannibal Holocaust [When told the animals were real]
Terror Firma [After that scene]
Baraka [Evil movie that attempts to capture humanity and really gets to you]
Triumph des Willens [After 3 people stood up and saluted]
Anything Michael Moore
Most of these I went back and finished as I don't like leaving things half done.
Leprechaun 4: In Space. The original one was alright as a B grade movie but went downhill from there and in number 4, changed the setting to space.

Re: WORST movie ever
i thought the scream films were pretty good. They reinvented the horror genre as they were poking fun at it. Wes craven is a genius. Scream 1 was great, 2 ramped up the humor and again kept people guessing as to was the killer, even though i knew the second timothy opilant was on screen he was gonna be a bad guy of some description. Still 2 was good. While 3 was possibly the best made, most normal film like (as opposed to a horror film) i didnt think it lived up to the reputation of the past 2. It was great but it was kindof a let down for me
i dont know mabe it was just the bullet proof vest bit which i predicted from the start
definetly the worst film ever for me was beowulf...apart from angelina jolees maximum of 10 minutes screen time
the best it got out of us was laughter at how unreal it was
Never, decide to go to another film once you arrive late to the film you booked and too late to go to what would be your second choice. For us it was american gangster and 30 days of nights last screening was 2 hours previous...so we saw beowulf and we ended up talking the whole way through it as did everyone except for this 1 guy that kept turning around, mad at everyone coz we were talking through the movie or something
i cant believe that film made $80 million. Damn you american children, why must you enjoy and spend money on going to such crap films. Youll only encourage them to make more
Im looking foward to the forbidden kingdom and the mummy 3, the kung fu in forbidden kingdom looked decent but the fantasy setting will put me of a bit i think
mummy 3 simply because Jet li is in it and its about chinese legends this time. BUT after seeing indiana jones 4 today...i hold out no hope that mummy 3 (in all its threequel glory) will be any good
I hate the twist at the end of indie 4, i think it just spoils the whole indiana jones imbedded in realism yet still occult thing. I dont know, maybe it was coz the whole film seemed kindof too "family filmy" for me. Much moreso than the origonal 3. It is decent though id recommend it, but feel free to walk out just before the pre-ending twist
