Poll: Add just a few more Motherships

The only way to secure and defend a foundling planet is to spend trillons of NAQ to upgrade planet defenses.. Unfortunately, our current motherships do not defend the foundling planets even when they aren't out on a planet finding mission.

What if we allow players to own four motherships instead of just one? To make sure that the additional motherships won't be abused, their functions and limits have to be clearly defined.

The first mothership's functions will be similar to current mothership functions with the addition of one; namely, to protect a foundling planet in the same way that it protects your main world.

The additional three motherships will do nothing but add simultaneous protection for three foundling planets each. These three motherships in guard duty may not attack other planets.

Weapons, shields and fleets will be similar to the current MS system.

The player may choose to rotate and reassign motherships to foundling planet duty on a weekly basis. For instance, MS1 can be placed into guard rotation and MS4 taken out for regular MS duties.

If a player chooses to use all motherships for an all out attack... that player must pay 3 MTs to be able to perform an all out attack. All four motherships may attack one single planet, 2 MS to a planet or one MS per planet. Additionally, an all out attack will render motherships un-useable for 1 week. Logic behind this is that they are busy trying to devastate planets.

I wrote this because of a discussion about planets being raided multiple times in a 24 hour period. Because you only have one MS, you can only take back one planet which seems not fair. I replied to that thread but decided to post this as a new topic because I believe it merits discussion.

To all the people who have argued in this post.. please read the following:

i'm doing this for the game. i'm a newbie. i can't afford 4 MS. i can't even afford defense because i'm concentrating in UP. 4 MS won't be a benefit to me. But in future, I'll be able to afford it. The MS update isn't for me.

and then you argue about more powerful players benefiting. well of course they will. they're powerful. you're powerful because you joined SGW ahead of me.

but you can't see this. you all talk about protecting weak accounts, and limiting big accounts. what about the fun in the game?

having this update will expand the playability of the game. that's what I am after here. i'm not doing this for selfish reasons or for any alliance. i'm doing this for SGW. please think in this context. will this update add more fun to SGW? will SGW become more versatile if this update is implemented? Think of the fun in the game, not of power.

UNLOCKED following discussion with author (and added to Common Suggestions thread).

I actually like this idea as it adds a more useful element to the game in regards to motherships - especially given the fact that currently you can only recover one stolen planet per day, no matter how many are stolen.

The only problem I see is that some might say that the cost to build up these extra motherships will be difficult for newer players - but then it's still a matter of choice - you can choose to have lots of planets, or not; you can choose to have more than one mothership, or not.

Make it two motherships. Two is better. But more ms is also cool :)

Suggestions:-
- Each ms has to be purchased parts and slots separately.
- Players can send only one ms at a time to search for planets.
- The second ms can be used to fight battles when the first ms is away.
- Two ms of the same player cannot fight a battle at the same time
- Players should be given the options to select the default ms which fights the battles.
- The other ms will be unused until it is selected for battles

Motherships cannot be used to guard planets. They are for battle purposes. I agree with your suggestion of having more than one ms. But I reject this act of ms guarding a planet. The extra motherships will be in our garage when they are not in use. We can use one of them when our default ms is completely ruined. :D

If we follow your system, we will be spending Trillions of Naq just for a back-up. This is basically what your MS system will be. 1 backup MS as opposed to my suggestion of 4 MS with limited functionality.

:-D I like my idea better.

Well, it would be good if people put in their two cents worth. The more ideas there are, the better solutions we can come up with. When we have something concrete, we put in a new post and put it into a vote.

Why can't they be used for guarding a planet if a MS update was put in? Seems like a brilliant idea to me - and the beauty of it is that only a maximum of 4 out of 10 planets can be guarded. This adds some strategy/spice to the game, as the player can rotate the ships around their planets - but also, anyone attempting to steal a planet doesn't know how many motherhips the player has (unless this would be indicated in spy-logs - a possible addition?) - and even if they did know how many MS they have, they wouldn't know which (if any) planets were guarded.

Adds some strategy. Adds some risk.

What about using back up MS idea, adding that once one MS is destroyed of stats or looses a certain % of its stats, the non-defaut MS automatically take its place.

I like the idea of a MS helping defend a planet, but I think it should just be fleets that help defend your planet from enemies fleets.

:-D It's motherships that can steal planet, why can't mothership defend planet? If the idea of 3 extra MS is approved, you won't need a back-up MS anymore.

:-D It's motherships that can steal planet, why can't mothership defend planet? If the idea of 3 extra MS is approved, you won't need a back-up MS anymore.

Acually MS don't do anything in the battle for planets, high strike power is to easy to achive with a MS and fleets wouldnt stand a chance against that kind of gunnery power.

The idea of a back up MS is to make it difficult for being massed and costly on both sides.

Well the cost for the upgrading of MS for planet guarding would have to be expense, and also It should be a slot based thing but the slots can be destroyed. But it may just be better to spend more Naq on planet defense
