You obviously didn't read why the aid has been suspended.
It's because their corrupted ass government confiscated it all.

I'll spare a thought for them. Not sure what good it'll do them, but I'll spare a thought. Thanks Nobodyhere for bringing it to my attention.

yup... its a military junta
for those interested
Military Junta of Burma (Myanmar) (1988–present) or the 'State Peace and Development Council'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Peac ... nt_Council
Not more than a few days after the cyclone hit they were blocking aid from the west and suggested that they give them money which they will use... rather than food and water that was being offered... needless to say the $$ didnt get sent

Re: spare a thought for the Burmese people...
All people are subject to the good and bad of their governing bodies. The Burmese people should consider that it might be time for a regime change since their own government is causing their ongoing suffering. Oh wait, they are mostly poor farmers without weapons. Kinda makes it hard to have an uprising when you're armed with rocks and pitchforks.
Why do you think US citizens fight so hard to keep our right to bear arms? Having 75% of your population armed is what keeps governments in check.
Anyway, rant over. This probably isn't material for General anyway.

I don't notice MANY dictatorships in European Union but oh well...
The ONLY difference between you and us in this, is that what we loose in a year, you loose it in a month or two! (loosing human lifes for various reasons I meant ofc
I don't think starting to promote weapons successes to keep democracy (Somalia, Colombia, Uganda, The Democratic Rep. of Congo etc..) so rather not go into this on such a topic

I heard the same thing but I can understand why the suspend the aid
The military in Burmese are taking all the aid suply's for their own or they dont wanne share it with the affected people to say the least.
Why bother sending aid when the military steals them from those people and use it for their own ?

There are pros and cons, of course. Does having an armed population keep the US government from behaving badly? Maybe not directly. But I suspect it's always in the back of politician's minds.
An armed populace also makes it pretty unlikely the US would ever be the target of a conventional military invasion.

Oh no, there have never been military dictators tromping around the European countryside.

You think Germany would have been as successful if the citizens of the countries they invaded (twice) had been patriotic and well-armed? I'm not counting France, of course. A weapon in the hands of a Frenchman is about as useful to him as a bottle of French whine (oops, wine).
Yes weapons were used to take over territories in XIIth century does it make it accurate here? I don't think so! So talking about 60 years old things is a bit failed arguement isn't it?
Considering as I said in European Union, only democracies, where we have averagely 1/6th of killings that USA have...
And the last part was so stupid I'll just say something about it, I'm not the one whining, afterall we don't have that much kills in our country and that much UNsecure country either heh, nor do the most of Western Europe
It's like massing with Assassins and only supers a defence bigger than your strike, while in Europe, we mass with mercs and MS and attack planets...my point being, we loose LESS, and we get same, if not BETTER!
Ah!

Yes, the French have much to be proud of. They stand as the pinnacle of what other countries aspire to become.

Yes that's why we are the most popular country for travellers and tourists. You, however, don't!
At least we don't have more serial killers than there is [REAL] football teams
Very much of a model, indeed
But well, that's greetings to the holy saving weapons
