hmm, maybe this is a too serious topic for me to reply, but talking from a country that had a dictarship thrown out in by a rebelion 34 years ago, without the use of guns, it was called the carnations rebellion, we'll still facing the consequences of that dictarship in our economy

the right to everyone to bear arms, has you said robin, its not the reason why the us government is on their toes always having opposite sides on a government and having laws to distribute power through the government is (congress, senate, presidency) your president is the commander of the armed forces yes, but he needs the congress to back him up, and since the congress is made up by different sides of politcs, he doesnt always gets his way, cause it would be like a dictarship if he did

and i agree with apophis, having an easy way to get guns is the primary way to raise crime, but again, im from a country where is not that easy to get guns, but crime is off the charts in EU

this is too serious subject to be in general it isnt sgw related, my thoughts are with the burmese ppl, but without foreign aid, the only way their government is going down, is when another powerfull person, already in the government (ie. military) wants more power, and it will be the same thing, but a civil war would happen and the ppl would be the ones suffering like always

Most funny is that I talked about people from UK, NL, Spain, etc...who spoke french and were cultured people as well...

Anyway, if your definition of cultured includes speaking French as a requirement, I guess I'll just have to fall into the "uncultured American" stereotype as I only bothered to master English, Spanish, and some Russian.

Ya know, considering the current laws, and laws that are being pushed in the UK one could argue that it is infact on the fast track to a dictatorship, even if it's a more subtle one.

The US has it's own share of problems there too. This recent "Patriot Act" is a step in the right direction.

well, personaly, i had 3 years of french, and cant talk lol, but i can understand and im not to fond of french, mainly cause of some EuroCup and WorldCup matches, between france and Portugal lol remember eurocup 2000
