i am all for this as long as there is a way to still attack ALL the races.

I believe it could be implemented such that Tauri still could get attacked. Just not through the gate. Enemies could still fly to Earth and attack (they wold then loose the element of surprise though). The antarktis weapon would serve as increased defence bonus for the Turi in this mode.

In this way everybody could be attacked.

Hows about this for the Tauri... Implementing the Iris is like Vacation mode. Nothing happens for 12/24 hours. No income, no troops produced, no attack turns, and afterwards income is reduced because people having been preying on the off-world teams.

This would also be really unfair since there are many people who do not even bother attacking anymore. If the tauri just kept there iris up all the time, they could effectively not use a bank, wait a couple days and come back with a lot of cash.

Ah, but the Tauri income is dropped by about 80% as no off-world teams could deliver naq.

I think The Tauri Iris should dobble there Defence for 12 hours.
But as mentiond it should reduce their income by 40% during that time becaues they can send the a BC-303 (or BC-304) to go pick it up.
But when the Iris opens they recive all of the naq they left behind! the only condision being they could loose upto 1/3 of it in a randem event (eg Goluld attack).
but there's more, covert and attack should both be decrised by 50% wile the Iris is closed.

But all of this must be made so it dosn't affect the rancs of the players, and the Iris carn't be closed for anuther 13hours which will offset the sleep problem!
