I have to say that this would not really benefit any particular group substantially - what it would do is potentially make it more difficult for everybody to steal planets, and would also mean that everyone would have the potential to be able to retrieve up to 4 stolen planets per day, instead of just 1 - thereby adding some increased tactics, risk and gameplay.
The argument about it benefitting bigger players is non-existant. It is already extremely difficult for a new player to steal a big players planet - unless they pump every single shred of resource in building a collosal MS - that would largely not change.
And you also have to look at the other side of it - the 3 additional MS are being touted as for defensive/retrieval purposes only - they cannot attack other peoples planets. And if there are an extra 3 MS on which t spend resources, then those resources have to be spent at the expense of something else - so whereas before, the bigger player might have pumped all his/her resource into 1 MS - they now can't.
And the beauty of it is that it's a choice - you can choose to have these MS or not.

thanks wolf. if you want to expand the playability of SGW, then this update suggestion is one of the better ones to have come out. although some people tend to disagree about the details of the suggested update, the suggestion in itself has a good and solid foundation.

My option to add an orbital space station was more or less an idea to keep yourself from having to sell your fleets off. I don't know about you all, but I find the fleets pretty much worthless in MS vs MS battles. I have never had a MS battle in which my fleets made the difference... plus they're more costly than MS weapons or shields to replace.
Say player A attacks player B and wants to minimize his repair costs. Instead of having to sell off his fleets, he sends them to 1 or more orbital stations to guard planets.
There's no need for a full MS to guard planets. The fleets are the only thing that is concerned when conquering planets.
If I remove the option to purchase fleets at an orbital station and only allow purchases of fleet hangars, then this is also a similar crapshoot as your multiple MS idea. You can either put all your MS fleets guarding one planet or you can divide the fleets and their total power up and lightly add defense to all planets... or a combination of heavily guard one planet and lightly guard another.
The maximum added defense to a planet will be the total number of fleets your 1 mothership has available.

fleets don't affect MS vs MS because they are ground support for troops. only a defending MS can prevent an attacking MS from deploying fleets. notice in attack logs that MS can only fight MS while fleets help in ground battle. but, without the fleets, there is no way that an MS can conquer a planet or add to the attack or defense values of the ground troops.

Maybe call them System Defence Craft (SDC) - as that is what they are specifically there to do - defend your system.
Orbital Space Station implies that it remains in orbit and cannot travel between planets - and this suggestion is that they can.

the orbital station idea can work. specific mission is to defend foundling planets. it could work. but you need to set up a new thread for this because it's a totally new idea from the MS thread.
if you have an orbital station with fleets on standby to defend the planet, then it will be good. you can have maybe 2 MS that are free to find or attack planets since the orbital guards your planets for you. but you really need a new thread for the orbital idea.

a MS that can protect the planet which is carrying (found) will protect the planet that he stole , its the same target by th way
can the code be written separately? it requires additions in th code in specific areas. if not then the addon its not good coz ppl cant take their planet bck in 12 hrs due to the MS def.
it is said that a MS have energies to bring 1 planet in 24hrs now it should also protect it , hemmmm
