Re: ... part 4

jar jar sucked so much i wouldn't want to shoot him, it would be too quick an ending for something that annoying. I'd have to go with light-sabre'ing his legs off and getting R2D2 to constantly zap him with a variety of electrical shocks, starting with his tongue obviously :-D

I hated Episode I... shoot Jar-Jar.
Episode II was OK...
Episode III was second best from whole saga.
Episode IV was good...
Episode V was the best from whole saga
Episode VI was decent ending for the saga.

Agree 100%, 3 was good enough to make me forget how bad 1 and 2 were

Re: ... part 4

actually shooting is too nice at times...

hmm... what would the end result be if one attached a facehugger to a Gungan?
(facehugger being the hand-like creature from the alien movies)

it would die too fast once the alien gets out.

Maybe resurrect him and put the acid blood of that alien on him.. 8)

Re: ... part 4

*points at self* Biggest Star Wars nut case living, save George himself and I dont care who knows who what they think...(so nothing different from anything else there..)...

Episode One was ok, it was a 'nice' opening to the saga, with an impressive climactic lightsabre duel setting the scene and tone for the next two. I agree, shoot Jar Jar, what a useless comic relief character. Despise duel of the fates music, and I though Liam Nealson, Jake Llyod, Ewam and Samuel L Jackson were cast well for this film at least.

Episode Two had the potential for an amazing film, very impressive base for the story line, but I feel at least it was poorly acted and delivered, Only actors suiting their parts were Ewan (at parts), Christopher and Samuel, but i would give hayden a break normally (for the ignorant among you...Obi wan, Count Dooku, Mace Windu and Ani)....if I were in a less critical mood. Liked the Forbidden Love music piece. Have to say though did adore the fighting at the end, minus the parts involving the clones...which were rather yawn.

Episode Three, again, tremendous story line, but once again, I feel the actors ruined it (and I mean all of them except maybe Ian and Chris, once again for those ignorant, Palpatine and Dooku, oh and Ewan has his moments.), and it was poorly directed. The end fight between master and apprentice was its main redeeming factor, but I felt Yoda and the Emperor's duel was horribly wasted. Loved the music. Overall, it gets the general gist across, but it could have been a million times better.

So for the prequels, Id say the music has been one of the best things to come from them, some very impressive lightsabre duels, but otherwise a bit dense and spoilt with terrible acting and too much time spent on the effects averse to quality of a good film.

Episode four, well what can I say? No problems really...it IS Star Wars, keeps running smoothly, well directed for once, perfect actors chosen for the part, who all do it well. It stands on its own level, and I believe it can never truly be compared to ANY of the other films...

Episode Five, not the most amazing, obviously has the most famous hollywood on screen revelation of all time, but the opening scene, whilst I do have my respects for it, the battle of Hoth is boring and sluggish, and apart from a brief allocation of screen time for a rather comical Yoda, the film pushes the limits of ones attention span in comparison with even the prequels, until the climatic battle between father and son.

Episode six, nice opening, well acted, performed, directed, battles with effects comparable even to modern standards, and an excellent finish duel, and finale that we now can all respect slightly more because of episode three. I feel the space fighting was wasted, but otherwise I cannot really find problems with VI, i just wish they had not insulted the original film with the new inclusion of christensen at the end in spirit form.

Out of the latter three, I would say Episode IV was undoutably the best followed by VI, and V trailing behind. I would also say any real Star Wars fans claiming V as the best Episode should hang their heads in shame.

Re: ... part 4

Battle of Endor.

An army of clones based upon the ultimate Soldier. Fully kitted out, trained, armed and armoured with structure, tactics, strategy, diverse forces and support to fill any and every role.

Not only clones make up the line troopers though to be fair, and to plug the gaps in his failed logic, Lucas has them also standard troops and conscripts who are also trained and using the best gear available to them and yet all fail equally and seem to be the most ineffective fighting force in the universe best suited to a Benny Hill sketch.

This elite fighting force is ravaged, trapped and sent packing by an army of...teddy bears.

Likewise ill-supplied rebels are able to gain the upper hand in any brawl with the Imperial Navy who are made up of highly trained professionals with far more numbers, supplies, the technological and size edges and yet any old John Smith is able to down a dozen Tie Fighters in a dogfight.

'nuff said about the credability of Starwars.

So if you want an innocent space opera crossed fantasy, this is the thing for you. But the bastion of Science-Fiction? A very underwhelming case study.

Space battles, turn to the reimagined Battlestar.
A somewhat darker and adult orientated universe, Farscape.
Action/Serious Comedy, Firefly/Serenity.
Good Epics? Look to the 50's and 60's.
Good Sci-Fi? Forbidden Planet.

I feel Starwars like Shakespeare does for Renaissance Literature; recieves far too much attention and seen as the only true and proper source. So I encourage people to find Jonson, find Milton, find Marlowe & Donne and all the others left behind the shadow of the mighty Bill Shakes.

However Knights of the Old Republic I did like and feel that the movies and their particular timeline within the expanded universe did not do the entire SW epic justice.

Re: ... part 4

severian... you need to remember to add the 10000% bonus to the rebels/teddy bears, due to them being "the good guys"...

Indeed.

I don't care personally if StarWars isn't what it should have been, I really, really, enjoyed watching the movies, especially old gen ones!
Afterall as we at it, shouldn't System Lords rule the milky way in sg1? How can weak rebels who failed for 5k years to do anything to SLs can do stuff when a group of technologically inferior civilization (good guys, SG1) pops up and is able to win over groups that NORMALLY they should stand NO chance against? Just joining good side makes you almost invincible!
Seriously...how could Earth resist an attack from Apophis or Anubis? They would kick Wraith ships sure with some nuke bombs, but Ha'taks are too much protected with shiels!
Victory in The Movie is even applying to good guys victory!
