If random massings are fine, then if The Educators simply change their reasoning of massing from " You had too much resources trained " to " We were bored ", you'd be fine with it? That's what I'm getting from your posts, albeit, I'd like to know if wrong.

yes hellfire. you are correct. i don't care if you tell me that you hit me for resources or that i was a nice target since i had too many trained units. i don't mind random, senseless massing either. even so called vulturing. if you go to war, you leave yourself open to attack from any and all sides. it's part of the game. but what the educators are trying to do is mass you, tell you why, and then expect you to change your style of play. that's not right.

Actually, from what I understand of the Educators, they'd be much happier if you -didn't- change your play style. So I think you may be misinterpreuting the actions of them?

but the fact that they use the word "educator" means that they are teaching you something. in this case, they are targeting you because they see something wrong in your style of play. so, they mass you and they call it education. that's what's wrong with it. you either hit me or you don't but don't "educate" me on my style of play.

it's a matter of proportion, i guess the general rule is to have a defence 100x your income, but keep the amount of killables to a minimum,

you do that by using mercs, defence planets, etc, etc

going back to the example of the 15m account, if it got massed, it'd be down to 3m in a matter of minutes, (less if blahh massed and someone like LTC AC'd)

now tell me that is a clever way of playing,

this is stargateWARS you can't expect to never be attacked, surely the aim is to be able to rebuild as soon as possible afterwards, i'd like to see the fictional account rebuild any time soon......

I think that's the origin of the name.

i agree with you. you can't expect to never be attacked. but that doesn't stop me from trying to defend well. using def mercs gives me only a tenth the def power of a super (am i wrong here? newbie so don't know the figures) you also mentioned the general rule of income X 100 = def. didn't know that. was that per turn income or daily income?

the rule i stated is as a guideline only and is quite old (afaik)

it would have been 100 x your per turn income, 2b income per turn, 200b defence, obviously there are points where it becomes more profitable to hit you, especially with attack mercs, attack planets and motherships

sorry for double post. anyway, anyone who leaves out huge amounts can expect to be attacked. no questions there. i'm not questioning that. i saw the thread. the guy who left the UU out was cool about it too. he admitted to having made a mistake by leaving out his stuff while having dinner. It's just that the word "education" doesn't sit right with me and, apparently a lot of other players. it could be, as you say, that we are misinterpreting things. if we are, then i will, as i said, apologize. heh. i've already made three what if apologies in less than an hour.

at this point in time though, this is what i see and feel. educating is a word that should not be used. because when you educate, you do it to make up for lack of knowledge or to right a wrong. when you mass people to educate them, it's like saying, i attacked you because you did something wrong. that is added insult to injury.

well, let's say my income per turn is 2b. my defense is only 500m supers. i'll need another 1m supers to up my def to 200b. so that would mean half of my 3m population will be in def. will i get massed because of that?

Erm, your theory is flawed in a huge way...how can your income be 2b with a 3mill army size, especially when 500k of that is already in defense

Well your commander isn't part of your account, he's external and call pull out at any time, if he does so, and for instance, you've trained 3m supers into defense and now you have no miners then you've kinda screwed yourself. If you got massed, while still being under him, you'd realize that being massed would help you see how easy you could get completely 'owned' and allow you to re adjust your account accordingly

if you have enough naq to get income planets to that stage, then you wouldn't be on 3m army.
Furthermore you're planets would get taken since you wouldn't be able to afford to defend them..
