1 mods serve a purpose

a they are not perfect
b they are some time bias
c this place would be 10x worst with out any

2 people, as a rule, show little respect for each other in real life, unless they know them

a role play is not real
b the people here u may/may not ever meet
c this place would be 10x more boring with out any of you

the way i see it, these forum have more to do with what happens in the "game" than what happens in RL, so get over it.

To be honest I don't care forums became like this, and to be even more honest, I'm happy it became this way.
Not bad finally that we get rid of all the crap from these forums, yes I USED to be against this kind of behave, but after time and how forum degrated itself, I feel it is needed to be so. It's like in previous class I was, professors weren't strict and let our class open on lunch for those who stood there, and then someone we don't really know who it was, used exctinctor and emptied it all over the class during lunch, then class became closed on lunch and professors changed their ways. It' was in college...My point is, when you let people (depends who you talk about) too much free to act like they want, they cross lines as they want, because they think "why not take profit ofrom it while we can?".
Here we have good examples, with real life threats, real life insults etc...wow people are REALLY grown up! (that was a sarcasm of course for your info )
Well if it was only between people who keep insulting each others all the time, I wouldn't care about it...but since it's not the case..
So I could NOT CARE LESS if warnings come around quickly (unless if they are not fair, but what is the liimt between being fair and not?)!

This is not made for the mods to defend themselves, but for the general community to have chance to make their points heard WITHOUT having to justify and defend what they think.

I dont quite see how we can sit by and have people say we are doing a bad job and generally create thread after thread where they say this is for the community and not for mods...

If people have a point to make they should justify it in my book.

The word which all this hoo ha has caused was being used as a way to get around the filter for the word anus

I dont see why people cant just leave it be... its done and over... people have been told not to avoid the filters on this forum (its in the friggen rules!) so when they avoid the filter they are breaking the rules... it got out of hand and the only way to stop it was to clamp down on the users avoiding the forum filter.

So far people have been doing a great job in not going back to it and the thread which spawned such a modding nightmare has in my opinion calmed down a bit and isn't as horrific to read...

Recently Judo got a warning for calling auriel a retard...seriously. He got a warning for calling Aureil a retard. Not to say that he had a right to do it, but this is what I meant few months ago about mods taking away words we can't say when they took Hell away. Now they're saying retard is a no no.

Mods: As I said before, this is crap. Not saying I should be able to get on here and cuss out every single person I see, but I should be able to use words that are used and not regarded as foul language. If people's feelings get hurt off of what goes on in this game, they need to quit. Since I can't say what I want to without getting modded or warned it is one of the reasons why I've quit. If anything make a disclaimer or something saying: Warning, your feelings may ( most likely ) will get hurt on these forums.

Mods are supposed to be in forums to handle problems and stuff. Not take every single word someone says and warn them for it because some idiot got their feelings hurt.

You can use words that are not regarded as foul language but at the same point we have people from all over the world accessing this forum from all age groups and that means what may not offend me (as a 24 year old) may offend the parents of a 14 year old who uses these forums... or may offend a certain group of people (religion etc) which is why this forum needs to be kept clear of people spouting drivvel that can offend. Thats my opinion anyhow

Peoples feelings generally dont get hurt by someone massing their defence or stealing their planets... but calling people names is not part of the game... its not StarGateNameCalling. Yes it was a suggestion made and it was discussed and it didnt happen... as you can see by everyones sig still being displayed. the mods were discussing ways of solving the issue of the sigs... if we didnt discuss options and talk about solutions this forum would be in a terrible state...

I am not going to deny the community played a large role in that situation, but so did the inadequacies of a unorganised and dreadfully put together mod team,

I think the community played THE role in that situation... I didnt see any mods create sigs to avoid the forum filter...

and at this point, only one of the two can be pheasably changed.

Whats the best solution for replacing the community then? mass forum banning?

Jack as a global mod? Why are FS and Dadigi STILL global mods or in ANY position of any kind? I can quite clearly say for all but FS, its certainly not because they're good at their job...even a blind man could see that. (I point out, the above are just examples....not me saying they are the only ones..)

This is not solely about that issue. As for justification, this is not an official complaint thread. WHY should ANYONE have to justify what they think to anyone in just a simple chit chat thread. Now who has the narrow minded approach master Rook....

It should never have had to have been suggested. It should NOT have been suggested in front of the community. It very...well the only phrase that suits here is unprofessional. I mean its just a forum, so dont take that to literally, but it gets you the gist.

Oh no. I think not. You see I was here when the situation first appeared. There was no mod on the scene for nearly a day. Thats absurd. Lack of orgonisation, lack of commitment to a job allowed the entire thing to grow to a point where sigs could be made on a large scale. It should never have been allowed to reach that point.

I return now to the april fools prank as well. One again, the massive flaws found in the moderating team, most of which I saw online throughout the prank period, most of which did NOTHING. If they didnt know, they have no iniative, people were breaking maybe not the direct forum rules, but the common courtesy rules of the game, and this was left to continue in a large quota of the forums. If they did know, well....I dont need to say anymore there.

So the old excuse of them being "only human" no longer washes.

No. The entire mod team needs to be completely reorganised. The bad apples need to be gone once and for all, and this needs to be done properly.

And by personal experience, I know it's not that good to let these words being allowed, if we don't want a duel of insults of course.
Because what do you think happens in MOST case (not for all) when you are insulted? You insult back, a bit stronger. Starter replies, a bit ruder, you do same, and so on...and then we end on real life threats or insults to parents...if not even racist/xenophobism.
I know what I say, already been several times in real life in one of thos "insults fights", where only thing you want is to own your "enemy" by saying the worst insult you can, by shocking him deeply...and then it ends sometimes in a fight. Not that youcan fight in forums, but that's exact same moment that real life threats come after insults to family and/or your nationality/ethny.

Apadamek was chosen by Spacey, along with DG, during an open recruitment session in the Temple for misc mods.

FS and Digi are mods because Forum wanted it that way.

Oh really? Maybe it's because I have a job to do and I do it. Of course everybody makes mistakes and they have to live with them. Previously when I've made my bigger mistakes, I've apologized and taken time off. My problems were with how I respond with people and that was a conflict when I was a General mod.

When I first started playing SGW, I emailed Forum and asked how I could get involved and help out. His first response was to visit the Newbie/FAQ section, which I did. Later, the wiki project was started. I offered my assistance with that, until its ultimate demise by somebody with an ego which was way too big. After that, I wasn't involved for several months until Race Mod elections, which I won as a Tau'ri after Wolf359 (?) was promoted to a higher position. That section was not very active, and I wasn't much of a role player, so I moved on to General and For Admin until moving on just to For Admin.

Since then, with a break here and there, I've been helping the community report bugs and major account problems with the admin team. You say I'm here because Jason favors me or because Jason wanted me to be here? I'm here because I wanted to help out and assist others in this game. I enjoy playing it, so I try to help others enjoy it as well. I've been talking to Jason for about two years now, and he has said many times he appreciates what I do. That's that.

None of the same can be said about several others on the moderation team, who seem to only enjoy their role when they can whip out the ban stick, or cause a fuss. You know who you are, and I need not call you out in the public. We have too many chiefs, and not enough indians. Several calls have been made in the past few months that I didn't exactly agree with, and I brought it to the attention of the admins. They were able to respond in a quick fashion, and had logical reasons for doing so thus I will go with their decisions.

Part of the problem is that people mis-treat the mods, so they mis-treat teh community. If you want a mod to be nice to you be nice back.
