Mothership question

When attacking, how do the weapons and shields affect an enemy defence?

When Defending, how do they affect the attackers strike?

I mean if I attack someone my weapons engage their mothership, do my shields come into it anywhere down that line?

Call me a noob, I wont be offended.

Stupid noob

The 'attacking' mothership strikes first, if the attacking mothership's strike is larger than the defending motherships strike + shields combined then the excess strike is added to the troops attack.

i.e. Bonus strike = Attacking MS Strike - (Defending MS Shield + Defending MS Strike).

The maximum damage my mothership takes when I get hit by some stupidly large one is.

Shields: 3.33%
Strike: 5%

Then the defending mothership attacks and the same process happens, though any bonus is added on to defence.

Also the maximum bonus your mothership can provide is 100% your strike/defence, i.e. it can only double it.

Not sure how fleets work though.

Do they all count as 'defense' like strike does? Or does the strike just run through them?

fleets count towards attack and defence...
