An interesting problem.

To start off I know this is a market problem but I am interested to see what the general feedback is to see how you think this should be handled.

A couple days ago I posted for buying 3 mil uu. Waited an hour or so then went to bed as it was 4 am. Woke up and found 2 brokers 1 for an even mil the other for 1.4 mil. Checked for any messages then accepted the brokers. No in game pm at all.

Logged into the forums to the forums to find a pm on the forums stating

can i ask you a favor please dont accept this straight away and could you please pm me b4 you acccept it because i kinda hae a love def so im in norm and if i have 700bill sitting there and im not there its going to die majorly and i wont get anything so could you please pm me ingame b4 you accept this offer my ingame name is janito

Now what am I supposed to do? I had about 500 bil in the bank and his def after a quick 15 at was 180 bil. Leave it sit and get stolen by someone else or build a good enough strike and get it back. Spent all of my bank naq training enough supers and rearming my ms. I took it back.

Obviously his bank couldn't hold 700 bil as he was only 5 mil army size. Now do I pay back the full amount of 700 bil even after I had to spend all what was left in my bank to get it back? Do I pay a partial amount? Or do I pay nothing for an idiotic move on his part?

PS: as a footnote I always trade fair, complete trades as quickly as sleep and work allow and pay fair market value if not a bit above. To me what happened is a load of bs.

Re: An interesting problem.

I see the guy involved, dont know him, but can see he never ascended.. I would say try and help him out a little - karma and all..

At least "you" realized it and got it back (well at some expense)

Good luck to both parties.

Re: An interesting problem.

An interesting problem, with an interesting solution. I have to say, you are more than generous.

Leaving forum PMs, but not accompany them with a simple ingame PM (which would really have been no timestealer) isn't the surest way of getting people to do what you ask them to. ;)
Besides, it's a natural reaction for a trader to check his broker and accept the trades.

You've been more than fair, and if anything were to happen (in the form of an angry customer) this would really be their fault.
So how much did you spend? Subtract that from the 700B, and send the stuff to the dude. I'd say that finishes that deal.. ;)

Anyway. Good luck!

Re: An interesting problem.

total expenses from me were about 100k uu and about 450 bil naq so all in all with conversion...about 520 bil. (had crap strike at the beginning)

Re: An interesting problem.

:?

That's painful for the guy, but really not your problem.. at least you saved 180B Naq for him which is more than what he'd have gotten if someone had taken it. :)
Sending Forum PMs without accompanying ingame messages just isn't smart.

Re: An interesting problem.

Really, I'd say it is entirely up to you. Tell the guy in future to request a broker from the other person so that he can click accept when he is online. Apart from that, weigh up the pro's and cons. If you got the UU for a good price from him the benefit of him wanting to deal with you again may out weigh 500 billion naq. Either way, no one is really going to accuse you of being a scammer so I wouldn't sweat it. I do think though if it were me I'd give it back to him. I'd just feel bad.

Re: An interesting problem.

haha you have no idea. I didn't even post half of it. And apparently I'm supposed to make sure that the person I'm trading with can hold the naq and that their online.

You broker you better be ready to accept goods. Not my fault you can't hold it.

Re: An interesting problem.

:( that guy belongs to my alliance. arrrggghhh.... oh the aggravation. hmmm...

1) well, because you were the trader, you had foreknowledge that he had a lot of naq in his account. It's same thing as selling someone a planet and then taking it back.

2)but since this is a war game, fair tactics, right? anything in war is fair and all that. *sigh* this is tiresome. the keyword here is anything in war is fair.

3) however as his alliance leader, it is my obligation to act and try to get the naq back from you because you did not trade in good faith. better if yo left him alone and never mind if someone else stole it.

i wait for your reply.

My point exactly.. it's pretty much common sense, if you ask me.
Nothing to get worked up about, and certainly nothing to get personal about. :-)

Weiland: You did not read the situation correctly, the whole hitting to take it back was explained before. Sending forum messages "Don't accept my broker" without sending an accompanying ingame message is just stupid. Especially if it involves a pretty big trade.
