Is it acceptable to scam someone?

I dont think it is acceptable to scam someone out of 5.6 million UU for any reason whatsoever. Regardless of how negligent you are allegedly.

Re: Is it acceptable to scam someone?

Not to be biased (since both Katsu and MFC are in the same family as i am) but if i found someone is looking for mercs to mass a friend of mine, i wouldn't be so lenient as MFC is.
I don't think i would scam him out of the 5 mill, I would, however mass him, his alliance, his CO, officer, ascended, planets and make his sale hard. Why? Because there is one thing i can stand even less than scamers or cheating. And that, my friends, is cowardice

I see you called for them to be banned in the topic....

Again THE GAME ADMINISTRATION TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE DETAILS, HIGHLY DISCOURAGES SUCH TRANSACTIONS DUE TO THE RISK, and OFFERS NO GUARANTEE OR WARANTEE THAT ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED HEREIN WILL ACT AS PROOF OR CONFIRMATION ACCEPTABLE BY ANY THIRD PARTY THAT GOODS OR PROMISES WERE OR WERE NOT FULFILLED.

Scamming should bring on the full fury of the entire server. As far as I can remember, everyone always made examples of said scammers.

Sometimes some of the mods will try to step on you, or even mod your section. My advice is to fill a sock with marbles and hit them repeatedly until they stop. - Pianomutt2000.

I'm with bill, scamming is low and people who do it should be massed. But there's no game rules against it so no, they shouldn't have their account banned or in anyway tampered with by the admin staff. Unless of course they used multiple accounts to do it.

Why is it not acceptable?

Deception is a huge part of strategy in war in real life and so naturally it has a role to play in this game. It doesn't matter if yo don't like it, you don't agree with it or think it shouldn't happen, it is a valid and legitimate tactic and will therefore always be part of the game.

The way I see it, all in-game resources are fair game in any method of procuring them - including scamming (not that I've ever scammed or been scammed myself) - however, scamming for real money is a definate no-no and is technically fraud.

These 'Is scamming acceptable' threads pop up every couple of months or so - and have done for at least the last couple of years - but everyone of these threads has failed to produce a single valid reason as to why it is unacceptable. It's a fact of war - get over it. Learn from it if it happens to you.

On a modding note, there is no need to call anybody an attention seeker. Let's leave all name-calling out of threads please - frankly I'm getting sick of it and will be cracking down if it continues.
