ascended server?

im getting to the point when i can ascend and get into the escended server and would like to know somethings

1-like whats the base currency?

2-i have heard people have millions of planets there but whats the deal with them and what are they for?

3-have found out that i can be descended on it but what effect will that have on my main account and would i be able to rejoin the ascended server if it happens

4-what can i expect when i get into there? will i get someone attacking me to try and descend me right away or will i be left alone and only attacked every now and then for recources(if thats how you get them) or if i become a threat?

P.S. you can't be attacked buy the big players till you get to their size.
