Re: Sarah Palin Running Mate for John McCain 2008

on a serious note thou, all kidding aside about looks and guns

it's important to remember that in the american experince, the postion of Vp, pior to the Bush/chaney years, really hasn't held to much wieght in the whole specturem of things. I would challenge most to name every VP in office from 1960 to present (no internet scearchs please)

Yes impotrtant in the terms of party unity, but over all the ablity of VP to set agendas and be that bully hasn't really happen.

For the most part, they serve as the stop gap in the senete for the president when it comes to tied votes.

Sadly the "most famous VP" hasn't been a good one at all...oh well I'm sure some of you will say otherwise...

So hopefully Joe Biden or Sarah Palin will be a better one than previous VP of last years. :(

Re: Sarah Palin Running Mate for John McCain 2008

wheather u agree with chancy's policies or not, it trueth he has been true to his own agenda, and beliefs. So in effect, a good VP. His level of influance over the current admin. will always be remember, so that would make him a histroical one.

on a lighter note, some one said sarah P knows how to shot a gun, well she half way to being the VP, now she just has to hit some one in the face with buckshot.

Re: Sarah Palin Running Mate for John McCain 2008

i watched her speech. was well done and effective/impressive. although the speech was written by someone else before she was even considered, it still worked. i think she came off better than most people (myself included) would have thought.

seems mccain may have chosen very well. as i see more of him obama seems to be a celebrity rather than a commander or serious leader.

if i had a gun and was therefore american id vote mccain.

Seeing who supports Obama, even if I wasn't democrat, I would vote for him if I were American!
Seriously, it's impressing. Will Smith, George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Robert De Niro etc...
(Voting like celebrities perhaps sound wrong, but hey, the above mentioned are not same "level" that Britney spears or Lindsay lohan are...a bit above to be short 8) )

What's funny is that Republicans pretend they'll be different of Washington people, and yet they mock Obama's past job of community organizer in Chicago...which seems very much to be a job close to people and for the people lol!

And rofl mao at last part

@papa smurf: no I meant Cheney, sadly as much as I know all presidents of last decades, VP names seem to have been blocked at the atlantic ocean western border! :o

Re: Sarah Palin Running Mate for John McCain 2008

Lol I watched some political analysis magazine on tv with political experts and they compared Sarah Palin with France extreme right leader's daughter, called Marine Le Pen. (who is likely to become extreme right's party new leader). Difference being, she's very less popular than Palin.
Sarah Palin is considered to be far right (or extreme right).

Also:
On social issues, she is pro-life, ie opposed to abortion in all circumstances, unless the mother's life is threatened. Member of the National Rifle Association, Sarah Palin welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court of USA ending the ban on carrying weapons in the country's capital.

Favourable the death penalty, it is also opposed to gay marriage and sex education classes in school, preferring to advocate sexual abstinence before marriage.

She also believes that creationism and the theory of evolution must similarly be taught in schools.

On economic issues, Sarah Palin considers himself fiscally conservative, not knowing better system that economic liberalism to ensure the best projects forward.

On the environment, it has repeatedly affirmed that global warming was perhaps not a problem created by man and as governor of Alaska, has complained to Washington to counter the government's decision George W. Bush to place polar bears on the list of endangered species.

On energy issues, it is partisan of the construction of a pipeline to transport natural gas across Alaska and the opening to exploration of the nature reserve Arctic (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge).
Being French, and more or less center-right (so I'm NOT using the "you all extremists zomg" thing like far left would say for every republican person), I can confirm the above statements.

[quot="Topic creator"]I say this because view of France, with such ideas, it would be classified in the extreme right of the political chessboards french (FN Jean-Marie le Pen).
Another example:
http://www.time.com/time/politics/artic ... 68,00.html

It's the Time, it'snot some conspiracy theorist site.

In a recent interview with Newsmax.com Palin noted that warming would affect Alaska "more than any other state, because of our location." But she added, "I'm not one though who would attribute it to being man-made." If Palin is still that ambivalent on climate change, it would put her to the right even of President Bush, who after years of claiming that more research was needed on the issue, now acknowledges the U.S. should reduce man-made carbon emissions to avert dangerous global warming.

She opposes strengthening protections for beluga whales in Alaska's Cook Inlet, where oil and gas development has been proposed, and she spent $500 million in state money to encourage the development of a 1,700-mile pipeline that would transport natural gas from Alaska's rich North Shore. When the Department of the Interior in May listed the polar bear as a threatened species due to warming—an action that could interfere with drilling in Alaska's coastal waters, where the polar bears live —Palin sued the Federal Government in response. "Our main concern with Sarah Palin's positions are that they are based on doing what is best for the oil industry, and not what is best for Americans," says David Willett, national press secretary for the Sierra Club.

"When America set aside the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge," McCain has said, "we called it a refuge' for a reason."

Another link

“So Sambo beat the **Filtered**!”

This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.
Sambo is a racial term for a person with mixed indigenous and African heritage in the Caribbean, also for a Black, or South Asian person in the United States and the United Kingdom. It is considered a racial slur in the US and UK but not in the Caribbean.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sambo (racial term)
Racial and ethnic slurs may be “just Alaska” and, clearly, they are common, everyday chatter for Palin.

Besides insulting Obama with a Step-N’-Fetch-It, “darkie musical” swipe, people who know her say she refers regularly to Alaska’s Aboriginal people as “Arctic Arabs” – how efficient, lumping two apparently undesirable groups into one ugly description – as well as the more colourful “mukluks” along with the totally unimaginative “f**king Eskimo’s,” according to a number of Alaskans and Wasillians interviewed for this article.

Some of the rest of article seems sorta biased and wrong, but the quoted parts I posted say it all.

All I have to say is,
Brilliant choice.

Perhaps because it's negligible and unimportant there hm?

It's politics and leading a country we talk about, not about winning a miss world tournament!
