Grand Theft Auto IV: Best Game Ever?

I guess it's just personal preferences. Some people like the in depth details, some like straight-forward killing. Personally I like GTA IV for several reasons, one including it shows the violent nature of Scandinavia

Hmm and no personally I don't like Russian Metal. Only metal I could listen to without any problem is FOB's, if they are metal of course.

I don't like the hero's face, plus, if it hasn't the "stat building" part GTA SA had, this game has close to no interest at all to me! A game without funny bonus things has zero interest to me. Games with only missions to do, are not for me.

If you can get passed some of the lamer parts of the theme, San Andreas is easily one of the best games of all time. And definitely the best GTA ever. I hated GTAIV because it was a major step back from the previous games. It had even less content then GTAIII.

The game has frame rate issues, it's too brown and dull, the characters are as interesting as drying paint, the missions were a complete rehash of previous game missions.
Talking solely of GTA - the best game was SA but the best storyline was VC.

Now - claiming the GTAIV is the best game ever is insane. Lets keep it in this generation - Drakes Fortune, MGS4, HL2 look a lot better than GTAIV. MGS4, COD4, HL2 etc.. Have better story lines. Mercs 2 does free roam and destruction/mayhem much better than GTAIV.

As Jack implied - GTAIV is nothing more than the developers idea of a next-gen GTAIII. Only difference is GTAIII is a legendary game.. not some delayed piece of crap.. If anything GTAIV should have had at least all the content of SA.

GTAIV lacks what a GTA should be and by looks of things Saints Row 2 will be the next gen GTA we should have already been playing.

If the next GTA goes in the same direction of GTAIV then they will kill what GTA is about and fall into a pit of catering for casual gamers who are amused by jokes that were funyn and shocking 10 years ago and love to play last gen games with a next gen lick of paint (Wii anyone?)

I hate to disagree with you but what in the bloody hell are you talking about? GTA IV is an almost exact representation of New York and it's got amazing visuals, there are some frame-rate issues on some versions maybe.

The characters are way more interesting then San Andreas, I couldn't stand C.J. as a character, Niko was far more badass then any of the characters in San Andreas. Not to mention I liked his storyine much more.

What missions in San Andreas are "Unique" other then having hot coffee with girlfriends, they're all the same type of missions, rob banks, do hits, that's part of what's fun about GTA.

Casual Gamers? That game is like 40 hours...and has received almost UNIVERSAL praise. I think that speaks for itself. The Wii is also awesome...I dun care what you say I really like Pro Evolution Soccer, best soccer game out. Madden 09 for the wii is EPIC.

When I play GTA I don't want to play as someone I could meet in the nearest town.. A game is supposed to be exciting, new, interesting.. It's supposed to take you away from "real life", it's supposed to give you time away and not make you feel like your watching some stupid Eastern European who soul edit out himself to anyone who pays him a buck. How many times have GTA done "New York"? How "new" is that? Yeah, yeah, Empire State Building, Statue of Happiness or w/e they called it. Who the **Filtered** cares about that? If I wanted to see an almost exact replication of a city I'd go there for a holiday. I'm not a **Filtered** tourist. Exact? No... far from it. It's like the most "interesting" parts chopped in together in a tiny map which begs the question... why cut back on size and focus on "realism" than find a balance between the size of SA and the next gen lick of paint that GTAIV got?

I want to play a game with depth, a storyline that is actually interesting not just randomly filled with every minority readily available and seriously racist in the way the represent those characters (Black crack addicts? ). Yeah it's GTA.. it's edgy, ahead of the curve with everything.. racism, pedophilia and every other "shocking" joke has been done by almost every comedian since they realized that they could get shock laughs for a few years out of it. just now GTA are catching up

The car dancing in SA was unique. All I can think of as I'm tried and going to bed after this..

Just because a game lasted 40 hours for you doesn't mean it's any less of a casual game. I finished in 1 day and I was barely challenged during the whole thing.
The cars were all back wheel drive and seemed to have a 1000BHP engine.. I know Americans think their cars are the best but that's just ridiculous..

There is so much wrong with that game I could ramble on all day but I'll try to condense it quickly -
Terrible hand to hand combat, car handle like cows, voice acting was a little underwhelming, the graphics were terrible.. come on now.. everything is grey and brown, the weather effects were nothing special, the final mission, holy **Filtered** .. talk about an anti-climax.. it was terrible, the story had no immersion, I didn't care what Niko accomplished.. did he even accomplish anything? At least Tommy Vercetti actually beat the mob.. Niko beat what? Some random character? The weapons were boring. No planes? Oh yeah.. GTA.. always shocking people with their 5 year old jokes but fold under some fear of a public outlash that you could fly planes in New York - bunch of wimps.
Look at Resident Evil 5 - they added a black female character because old women and politicians catering to religious narrow minded people thinking it was racist that a white man was killing black Zombies.. Yeah... There's alot of white people in Africa That's another example of mainstream ideas ( **Filtered** morons ) influencing something that has **Filtered** nothing to do with them... All gaming companies are going to cater to find a middle ground that doesn't offend anyone.. Then what? No cursing in games? No blood in fighting games? **Filtered** but I do hate most people and their self righteous beliefs that they must push upon others because their special and think everyone else should change anything that's near them because that's how things should be done for them. They're not **Filtered** special. (sorry about the extra rambling)

I always said - Casual gaming will kill the gaming industry and it has already killed GTA. Prove me wrong - please, I hope you do because if I'm wrong then maybe GTA will be less **Filtered** next time and actually be like a real GTA game.

Just think on this - I spent 1000's of hours playing GTAIII, VC and SA.. when Rockstar came out with GTAIV it was like them sticking their middle finger up at everyone saying "**Filtered** you.. we'll release some **Filtered** little game and we'll still sell millions - watch as our bank balance grows as our fanboys cry joy with their boring, tedious and half assed game which we had an extra 6months to work on"

Yeah the Wii might be "awesome" but if it didn't have that gimmick controller then no-one would care about it and every child wouldn't be wanting one. Every child wanting one? A barbie? RC Car? Toys? The Wii is a childs toy? Did I say that?



I may look over this tomorrow and do an edit but that's a general idea of why I hate casual gaming, the Wii and GTAIV.
