Re: McCain or Obama? (World Politics)

His election alone is already a change!
As for what will change, hmm well not hard to guess, international policy, hopefully what Bush screwed, Obama will solve it, totally or partially. Will decrease the attempts of terrorism towards USA. Will decrease the hate by many populations towards USA, around the world. And that way, the amount of potential enemies decreases..and I'm not going to tell more, you'll see it by yourself! :D

if you really look back into each US presidency, there wasnt one president that didnt make a large group of people disappointed (except maybe george washington himself). as for the "change that we can believe in", its a high bar that barack set for himself. here he made US history being the first african american as president- now hes gotta be better than the recent previous presidents and he has to fix the problems that they have left. clinton left a slew of problems for bush to fix, and as we can all see, bush only made things worse.

i agree with mordack that many obama supporters will be disappointed. all i gotta say is dont get your hopes too high- a politician is a politician.

Yes this is dark but what you have to understand is that alot of people didnt vote for Obama and for good reason same as those who didnt vote for McCain felt they had good reason.

and thankfully we still have the right to express our opinions, and the fact of the matter is that 1 president and only 4 years will not change our nation.

Thinking that global terrorism will decrease under Obama sounds like something Peggy Joseph would say. When Obama, Pelosi, and Durbin start tearing apart the patriot act, there will be an increase in terrorism world wide, not just in the U.S.

True dat. What a politician promises (full promises) is virtually never attained. Regardless of opinions here, from people around the world, the American people have voted and chosen their new president. They (collectively) have elected who they felt was best for the job, out of the candidates.

Regardless of McCain or Obama, it was great to see so many American people vote, and hopefully, chose someone who will lead America to better & brighter times (or at least start them down that road), and help lead the world to overcome challenges we all face and we move further into the 21st century.

Re: McCain or Obama? (World Politics)

One can wonder what would have happend if in 2000 McCain won primaries and became president instead of Bush...or if Gore became president despite the fail of elections. Perhaps the things would have been different in last years...

Re: McCain or Obama? (World Politics)

p.s. to my above statement

I think that one of the greatest strengths that Obama has to not to make people believe that his is a saviour, or the second coming of Christ, but to insipre people to believe in their own ability to overcome the obstacles that face them. To not so much believe in the power and leadership in the government to lead them (like socialism and communism) but in their own ability to control their lives and make positive gains for themselves. I think he's re-inspired hope in people who might have lost it, and in that very basic sense, at the very least, he is good for the American people.
