Defining Roleplay

Role play is great but to often used as an excuse to behave like a gerk and then claim its just role play.

This has happened all too often.

However, it is normally easy enough to spot when people are roleplaying, or when they're being directly abusive - but again, it has got more common to be the latter over the years as the game has developed and, as a consequence, bred more arrogance because of the way it changed. Additionally - some of the best roleplayers are copied (badly) by some other players - mainly because they were extremely good at roleplaying, although those that copied them didn't didn't seem to realise that it was just roleplaying. Also, a lot of people have in the past mistaken excellent roleplaying for people being a jerk...

...Esker is a great example of this - playing the tyrannical Goa'uld down to a fine art. Although many people got annoyed at his style and claimed he was being a jerk, the truth is he was behaving exactly like his character should.

As Zeratull stated there are several role players in the race area and in the spam temple. What brdavs stated i must also agree with build the game around ur roleplay not ur roleplay around the game. If ur really interested in people who roleplay all i can say is stay tuned

Like I said I ll do my best to try and bring the roleplay factor back in this game thats a promise but it will be up to many parties in the end of the day.

Hehe yeh well i do Live Roleplay in the forrest which is fun.

But no for me Roleplaying is easy MSN, PM, Forum or ingame as long its regarding this game i am Nimras its a role its who i am if i dont like the player i insult them offcourse withing limits as i do draw a line. I never take things seriuse sadly because i act in my free time and is good at it i apparently get the word ohh you take the game way to serius lol.

And some people find it confusing when i change on MSN or on forum from Nimras to Mod or to Me Morten the guy behind everything. I do try to make sure people know but hey sometimes it goes for deaf ears.

When i where a mod it was a role only thing there werent is my sense of doing the job because i wanted to do good for the community and a few others things beside that i made my job as a mod a role because when i keep a role means i do not have any relations to others such as nimras does or the real has.

Some of the few things you learn when you act is to make a role belieavble and able to keep your own personal ideas or feelings or other roles ideas or feelings away from this one works well and just been something i do per auto.

But i will admit there are users who take the game to seriuse and therefore read more to what others does or in my case what i do in the game and other place as its just a game i play as a char and role. Therefore when we are into the game and role i do not considor my self a player but considor my self Nimras who feels all is there for Real when its closed its closed who cares.

Thats what i like about games like this when you sit down make your role and start play you live the role you are the role until you leave it then it does not matter what happens nor do i care as its a game. I could always just stop or let it be it dont matter i play as long i find the game fun and the role fun but more and more take things to serius and ruin the fun in playing the role because they draw all into RL instead.

But yeh thats how i see role play a good one is someone who can live into the role they choose 100% and play it and while playing it using it like it is real thats what makes it fun you get a chance to live into the role and act for fun in a fun role.

I think rp adds more fun to the game. I was totally shocked when one player told me he had no idea what a Goauld was or even a replicator

Some of my lords have been massed because they have being playing as goauld so I now ask them to try to change colour so it signifies roleplay.

Many times I have been smacked talked to by a small Tauri, who i could mash easily, but never have as it is rp.

You should be intelligent enough to understand rp vs real life abuse.

Anyway, I am always up to help Svarun or those who want to rp.

Hell, I have tried to keep our alliance to a stargate feel and many players are enjoying the game, as they can play there character in our forums.

However much I dislike the goa'uld, I still believe it is good that you give your alliance a stargate-like feel, Harakash.
