PS3 or XBOX 360?

semper you posted directly after me after i had posted a pro-ps3 point following you and jack. its very easy to come to the conclusion you were referring to me with that post.

but i might aswell be considering the clone stockpile

(quite asides from the fact that im kind of between 3 or 4 tasks at the moment so given more thought i wouldve come to another conclusion.... lol)

lol...arguing against Semper AND Jack...im bad enough, but with that little extra, you might as well go and just use the noose now PS3 supporters.

And just to complete the unholy trinity.....

XBox 360 is the current king in this generation of games consoles (been blasting away on Gears 2 most of today). The reasons for this are twofold:

Firstly, and there is no question about this, the 360 has a better supported games market from the software industry.

Secondly, Sony were just too damned late with the PS3.

Sure, it's still one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest Blu-Ray players going (and this is the only reason I'd buy it - but not yet as Blu-Ray hasn't completely taken over the market as expected,a nd already has potential rivals) - but the problem is that because of it's late arrival (and expensive cost), by the time its full potential is realised (and I think this is still a long way off) Microsoft will have already released, or announced, 'XBox 3'.

Add to this apparent problems with graphics stutter/refresh.

I'm not saying it's a bad machine - oh contrare - it is probably more capable overall than the 360 - just too late and with less support to enable it to really compete.

I own both a 360 and PS3 just to make things clear.

Gears 1 is the ONLY game I have played on 360 worth playing (I'm sure Gears 2 will be epic and the only reason I still have a 360 is to play it). Halo 3 is so generic it was painful and online it was worse than offline.

You guys name off a lot of 360 exclusives but honestly.. most are really, really bad.

PS3 might have been out later than 360 and 360 might have better support but don't blame the console - blame the developers.
Any game made exclusively for PS3 has been of better quality than any other game.

And please... NEVER ever again say that MGS is on par with games like Gears... That's just insulting to an MGS fan like myself.

Gonna put this to bed - I didn't buy a PS3 for a bluray. I have only watched one bluray. Both consoles are pushing multimedia too much and not focusing on games enough.

I find the 360 boring and too easily broken.
I am a Sony fanboy. Look at all their consoles - the best every generation and as far as I can see PS3 is already better than 360. But I guess that's because I've played both and played PS3 even more than I ever played PS2.
I also love Sony because they make the best TV's on the market and pretty much every other product they produce.

I also have owned almost 30 games on PS3. There are bad games - very bad but I have yet to see the box of a game on 360 that would interest me more than any PS3 I own and have gotten bored off.

Tell you guys what - go play littlebigplanet and tell me that 360 is better and I'll still call **Filtered** on what you're saying

XBox360 easily broken? Maybe for idiots that don't bother to look after their consoles - but everyone I know who has one has never had a problem, or known of anyone who has had the infamous '3 red lights'. I've also known a few people who replaced their 360 with a PS3, and then went back to the 360 - the PS3 simply being used as a Blu-Ray player.

And just because you have and play both, doesn't necessarily mean that you are right. I've got a mate next door to me that has a PS3, and a huge catalogue of games - but every night he's around mine, on the 360, and he's selling his PS3 in order to buy the 360 Elite - so what does that say?

You can argue until you're blue in the face about which console has better games - frankly I think that most games of today, for all consoles, are inferior to those of years gone by - brilliant graphics do not make for a brilliant game - and when these so called amazing games on both consoles can be easily completed in a matter of days (if not hours) of purchase, then quite honestly, that is crap. The older ones amongst us may recall the ZX Spectrum - well, it says something that a 26 year old home computer with 48k memory, has games of greater longevity (and greater difficulty) than some of the so-called super-games of today's big 2 consoles. Add to that the following generation of home computers such as the Commodore Amiga and Atari ST, and you will find a whole plethora of games that are superior in difficulty and/or longevity than today's so-called blockbusters.

When it boils down to it - there is not that much difference in the gameplay of the two consoles at all. For games that are released on both, is there any difference? None that I can see! And, in all honesty, comparing games that are exclusive to either console is flawed.

And yes - it is the developers fault that the PS3 was late - but that in itself doesn't make the PS3 better - lmao - the point was that although the PS3 may be a more capable machine, it's late release, coupled with inferior support, will more than likely mean that it's full potential will not be realised - or at least not until we're in to, or heading for, the next generation of consoles - by which point it will be too late. That is the reason the 360 is superior - it has the earlier release, the greater support from the industry, and also the most vibrant online community (despite the cost of the respective online services). The PS3 may be more capable overall, and may have have more potential - but that means nothing when those capabilities and potentials are unlikely to ever be fully utilised.

Therefore, if I had to offer advice on which console someone should buy - it would be the 360 - or to hold off for the next generation.

Sony mucked up - it's as simple as that, and they know it. The question is whether they will rectify it the next time around.

I have a friend who loves that game series. and while i dont own it, i have spent quite a few hours behind the controler. and i havent pplayed gears 1 yet. but in my opinion, gears 2 is better.

But thats only my opinion
