All well and good but RM does indeed hit the nail on the proverbial head in many many ways...

History is never written overnight, Magni. It's the end result of a long and tedious debate.. It's why there isn't a single history book written by one writer.

And history being a result of debating and "compromise" is supposed to be a good thing? It distorts the "true" image to a degree, without a doubt. The victors and the strong (re)write history. The fact it is thus codified is a conveniance, weather or not its a hones account of actuall events depends on several variables, "later debates" being one of them.
I`m thinking "Ecumenical councils" lol... Which dogmas shall we support and which versions shall we eradicate today?

Never said it didn't distort the truth.. there's no such thing as an absolutely true history ever written.. In fact, even the human themselves doesn't keep an accurate mental memory.

My suggestion is that the area of war history be written from two points of view for each war and then be sent through a small review process where a few trusted sgw players can edit and in the end you will ahve a decently respectable history

The key is review and trusted writters of this history.

I think it is a great idea but i suggest you put a team together for review, otherwise it will simply be revisionist history and that would be pretty useless.

Also use old material from the forums both and and alliance for source material to give it some flavor.

Also a forum has been created where the jist of the work shall be discussed so I ask all of those who have volunteered and will in the future to register on it.
There are just basic threads made which are neccessary to get us started. Like introducing yourself and telling where exactly you think and wish to contribute in the whole scheme.

A sistem like that has as those registering will notice roughly been created but will needed to be improved and finished. Like some people have mentioned there isnt an universal history but we can do our best to make it as realistic as possible and that should be enough and in the end this time around the History will be written by people present instead of winners.
If you wish to leave nothing to coincidence then I suggest you cooperate in its making or you ll just have to read it be it to your liking or hindrance...

I dont know a ton about the old school days however, I am a clever communicator and am decent at resolving conflicts which will arise so i would be happy to help in a limited sense

Anyone interested in what we are doing may register as well.
But for now a short description:

For starters we had and will devide into diffrent groups each doing their own specific jobs but also doing some other stuff. The story writers group was just asked to write their overivew of the SGW history.
Once written that shall be sent to one place and wont be posted untill everyone have finished (to prevent story interfearance (meaning stories of XYZ people influenting the writing of the others))
After that the stories shall be posted without telling who wrote what to again get rid of the influence factor always present and then the council we had and will be creating shall overview the thing make comments give some general guidelines and such...
After that the Censors we have yet to name shall overlook the thing and combine the stories into one.

Meanwhile the Council has started will start on picking up the terminology to use in the history itself (If you wish to learn about that visit the forum...)

Meanwhile the non story tellers will be asked to start gethering data

and meanwhile...


Yep its getting busy and its for starters a START


Like posted on forums...its not about weather or not we shall get SGW history. That we will. Its about the quality and the extent of the history we ll get.
