I agree with KMA. If a mod is doing their job, impartially and fairly, then the community of players should respect that and let them do their job.

But what if due to the moderator acting so exemplary, a player feels personally insulted? There's no accounting for who is not and who is non compos mentis.

And hypothetically: What if a mod masses a player to get them to listen?

True, a player can perceive the actions of a moderator as being unjust. Is there not a system in place to redress an action of a moderator that may be considered unjust?

For the hypothetical questions, wouldn't the moderator be stepping beyond their position? I understood their responsibility to moderate the forum, and their are given both criteria to judge and consequences to bring in line those that stray outside what is acceptable.

If a moderator would take this ingame, would this moderator, by definition, still be exemplary?

I have been massed on occasions because of modding yes, but I seem to get threats on most occasions when I warn someone, especially if it is their 3rd warning resulting in a ban, yet i doubt such threats were made for the first 2 warnings because they didn't happen to be the point when a ban kicks in.

Maybe it's mainly because I used to mod the GC section. But I don't see the point in doing a Mod job if you face massings everytime you warn someone.

Then quit? lol. Its very simple, and clear cut.

I voted yes , but then I read the last bit of your opening post, and I change my mind, I vote no.

The only reason to mass someone for what they say on the forumn is if their a *insert offensive word* or if they challenge you, and this goes for mods , players, admins.

To mass a mod for warning you *if done sop justly and without malice and discrimination* then thats not really needed. Although people mass for simply no reason, for giggles, and for ME, so you know, who cares...

No jedi the disclaimer with: U might be massed for being a mod is nowhere to be found. However i dont think its needed. A lot of the mods are going in this game for quite some time and they know what can happen. I also think that many will simply retaliate these days.

Well why dont the mods band together when this happens, I mean with as many mods as there is you would think they would have a connection to the people threatening in some sense. I am not even a MOD and if a mod came to me and said someone is threatening i would get involved and help, resolve the issue with aggressive negotiations

I think the problem is human nature. People will generally lash out wherever they can if they perceive something done against them. Now if I mass say Buck 'cos we had a... less than amicable discussion yesterday did I mass him because of that, or because he's noted as being a war runner? Timing can be everything here.

@TheWay, while you can team together against this sort of thing, the vote is only slightly in favour of it being wrong so lol you might find there is an opposing team.

I'm looking mildly forward to the day that someone decides to mass me for a mod decision. There's nothing quite like having a valid, public relations worthy excuse to destroy someone's alliance, someone's friends and someone's household pets.

To mass a mod for doing something as a mod is tant amont to having someone in life telling you something you dont like so you punch them rather then discuss it. I guess for that analogy they would actually be a sort of authority you would be punching also which is even worse.

I think I disagree here, though. This is a game, and these are its forums. I don't think anything we do here can be considered 'tantamount' to doing something in real life. Agressive, testosterone fuelled behaviour is commonplace here, and even encouraged to a certain extent. If massing someone for no apparent reason isn't looked upon askance, then why should it be cosidered taboo to mass moderators? I'm confident that the practitioners of random massings aren't also responsible for similar acts of RL violence.

I tend to find that if your level, Honest, Explanatory and Respectful, people tend to accept what you say, Unless they are just doing something to be a pain in the ass, In which case, I dont mind if they mass me, I know im way cooler than them. Physically assualting someone because they lost a war of words, Just shows the other person tends to be correct...Thats what ive found with mods that have been massed anyway, Although that is sometimes not always the case.

So just be honest, If someones being stupid, tell them, if they dont know why, Explain it respectfully, if they are a decent person, they will hold there hands up and say sorry, if not, they can mass me all they want...I'l just mass 'em back

of course it is

there is no such thing as anything that's not personal, even the decisions by the mods have some kind of personal influence. (unless the mods have absolutely no contact with the members of this community other than their modding, in which case they wouldn't have ingame accounts and wouldn't have any history with the members of this community).

I add... until it can be decided that "the forum and the game are seperate"... they aren't.

I remember a while back mods were **Filtered** about being massed and how the forums and game are separate. There was one instance where hypocrisy was cried out loud and I can't remember it for the life of me.
