Trading Covert Turns

There's been various threads on changing sab and sigh while I'd like to see that happen I doubt it will, so another solution.... trading covert turns.

We can trade just about everything else, so why can't I trade my capacity? Change nothing else but just add in the ability for people to trade their covert capacity.

Make the cap for covert capacity say 300 or something still low like that with natural generation stopping at 100 (as it currently is) and that gives us a new, but fairly limited resource to trade. It still protects people ingame as the limit on the number of times they can be sabbed remains and it still costs the same capacity to sab or spy someone, just that you can sab/spy more people if you buy more capacity.

Pros

1. more resources for new peoples if they sell them
2. sabbers can sab more people

Cons

1. May lead to dedicated sabber accounts but since the limit on the number of times you can sab an individual is remains, won't do much good.
2. New accounts to sell covert capacity? We have that problem already with accounts for ATs so no difference there.

Re: Trading Covert Turns

Why would I be joking?

Though where is the problem in allowing someone to be able to spy or sab more people? There is no risk to anyone else, they are protected by the limit on sabbing individuals. All this means is that people can kill more spies if they desire.

Though... I know this is a little ... petty... how does this affect someone who isn't playing?

Re: Trading Covert Turns

So if i had huge spy level and unlimited covert, admin would have to remove attack button from this game. ATM Covert is more powerful then attack and defense, but you want to make it even more powerful. Desperate mesaures?

And it does affect me as i am back in buisness :-D

Re: Trading Covert Turns

Not desperate, frustration. :P Ask around to see who's missing weapons this morning.

It's not making it more powerful. Same power for sab, same protection for everyone.

And no with crit and nox sab isn't that effective. There does come a point at which it's not cost effective to sab someone even if you've been doing it for turns and turns and turns and have AC'd them into oblivion. But since this isn't going to change that - they would still only be able to have 15-18 sabs against them (I can't remember how many it is) they are protected.

Re: Trading Covert Turns

I don't think this is the place to discuss surrenders/not surrenders.

Back on topic, I think the issue of snipers and dedicated sabbers is more worrying. While you may be limited to what you can hit per person, having unlimited CC available would mean you could sab tens of people per night. Why bother to hit at all in some cases...

Might be more open to a use of MT for covert capacity.

exactly

I have to agree with Infin here tho. Doing this will make it so alliances can pump 1 account way up in covert and then do all the sabbing. I have to agree with him, that makes it a bad idea.

Will be the same as the alliance funded MS running around.

Re: Trading Covert Turns

Well the way I see it

the better off, who could afford the higher covert levels and so afford the cost of buying covert turns will gain

those who are not as fortunant would be left behind.

think of it this way, we have seen how ats are now too expensive for many players

Covert turns would end up the same

Re: Trading Covert Turns

Well you couldnt really sab 1 person all the way down, as when someone covert phases it takes 2 turns to unphase, and even then you can only hit 3 more times, they would have to be offline an entire day in order to sab everything away.

Also sabbing costs your UU aswell....

I dont agree with the trading, but it could be put up to 150.

Re: Trading Covert Turns

While I agree that the current sabbing isn't as effective as I would like, making Covert turns simply swings the pendulum to the opposite side.

Perhaps make it so the higher your covert level, the higher your capacity.

Start with 100, and increase by say, 3 each level.

So spy level 30, gives you...

100 + 30*3 = 190 Covert Capacity.

Or another idea would be to remove the 3 Covert turn cost per sab, make it cost 2 or even 1 instead.
