ok, name me 1 thing that is so great about it please...

keep in mind the current climate of the local and global financial economic climate and the fact that quality in every consumable, from food to clothing to electrical goods has gone down the crapper while wages have dropped, and unemployment has risen due to the relocation of entire industries being shipped over seas... dont try and argue with me as i used to be a dress cutter and witnessed all of my industry upsticks and go to countries like morroco and romania, leaving me with 20 yeas experience but no work to apply my considerable talent for cutting from scratch a wedding dress!

the fact that corporations are so greedy is due to the fact that people have grown lazy and inept at handling responsibility, its only natural that corporations such as Mcdonalds would flourish given that people would rather eat a burger than have a cow in their backyard and slaughter it themselves...if you see where i'm coming from?

They barely "survive" because the common masses don't have half a brain and have no idea about the concept of saving and growing their assets. Those people deserve an equal measure of pity and scorn.

It's a bummer about your job Avenger, i'd look at it in a brighter light, the West is becoming a manufacturing land of higher quality goods. Once the recession ends, you might get a job with many times your original wages simply because once the market is flooded with those Romanian dresses, a english made dress will sell for more. Weather the storm.

i beg to differ!

survival is being to lazy to spend to time with your wife and kids and thinking the peoples false lives you see on the TV is what you should have, or if single...going out with mates to get drunk because of the way society (especially for the late teens to mid 40's) is structured in the modern world.

people have grown lazy as evidenced by the fact that TV has a MUCH BIGGER influence on kids now than at anytime in the past 40 to 50 years, not so in my house, my kids live in fear of ME rather than the fear of peer pressure or TV influence suggesting they will be either unhappy or incomplete in some way because they don't have the latest kiddie gadget, hence why my kids are top of their group in their 3 age groups...my oldest for example has just started secondary school (he's 11 years old for non-UK peeps) but has already been picked out twice to make movies for teachers educational purposes, and is extremely good at martial arts and is generally well liked due to his extrovert nature and complete lack of apathy and IMMENSE amount of self confidence...which does not come from the TV i can assure you

mate, my industry took 10 years to die, in the UK the rag trade as it was known was MASSIVE and catered for the domestic population where as now its gone over seas and will NEVER return...on this you can trust what i say because it wasn't to many years ago we were having a boom time, if it was going to return it would have done so long ago.

exporting business and whole industry's abroad is not cool and whats worse is when a group of people are driven from their trade and all you hear on the news is that people are lazy and there are jobs we brits wont do, so they have to allow immigration and give those jobs to immigrants who work for less...do you not smell a rat mate?

They work for less and do more, you can see the business sense in that. What I'm saying is while the mass producing "rag trade" is never gonna be around anymore, you probably have more inherit skill in making a dress then your romanian counterparts. Your quality of work is probably higher, the possibility of a company, once this recession ends, of coming out with high quality english dresses is incredibly high. The amount of work you put in to try and get in or whatever, that's your choice. Look at a company like Mephisto shoes, they're expensive hand made quality french shoes. They've made their money from having high quality and low supplies, once they got people like the Japanese royal family it was easy from there, people prefer their shoes to cheaper Nike's. They saw the western shoe market about to collapse and decided against mass of sales for quality, it's what's going to happen to many markets and industries in the U.S.

Capitalism is good...BUT...it has to be controlled to avoid crap that did occur lately, and then, it will be alright.
Totally free capitalism is meant to fail, partially controlled capitalism (little acting from State to most necessary things like minimal wage), works perfectly.
Control little parts of it and then it's nice.
Urogard post was epic fail (told ya you shouldnt say it to me , not meant seriously I did, of course ) as MANY MANY people not being billionaires and NOT being "stupid sheeps" are ok with capitalism. Why would right wing win elections otherwise?
And why wouldn't revolution come around already?

The idea of selling you stuff you don't need is up for debate here as well as the ethics behind it, you can even talk about the meaning and function of capitalism. but I don't want a debate over it's fundamentals eg.(the concept of capital, and pros/ cons of free exchange of goods and services). Keep it on marketing and the media.

Oh and I'm just distracting you while i hit on her.
