Now if you actually read his post you would realize that he was countering your argument not putting words in your mouth. Your argument is inherently flawed, llaw enforcement is held back by paperwork and the bloated legal systems of the modern era, the addition of fire arms is nothing. Police in the past could arrest and hang someone for the heck of it. Police today are tame.

i just want you to get some historical context before you start saying we are heading on the highway to hell. Because the abuse of power by law enforcement is actually on the decline (unless you live in chicago).

Historic examples, such as the ones I presented, are very much relavent to the proposal put forth by yo, and others that police "brutality is on the rise". If you want to completely throw out all historical arguments then fine, but you just completely destroy your entire argument, as something can not be increasing if it did not already exist.

ok, since you guys insist on talking about history, we may as well all get on the same page, if we look at the police man of say the 1900's, they were in fact peace officers with very little power, that's why 2 men could stand in front of the sheriffs office and shoot each other to kingdom come, the only job the sheriff had to do was clean up the mess!

so, police powers for the past 100 (especially the past 75) years have grown exponentially and so has police brutality.

Didn't see anything wrong. The only complaints I really saw was that they forcibly stripped her. She was obviously resisting them, so force was necessitated by her. It would appear that she was arrested for identity theft, or the attempt thereof. But the entire report was dripping with spin, it's hard to tell which is up and which is down. With so little information and with that little information being so jumbled in an attempt to spin the issue, it's impossible for a truly open minded individual to come to a conclusion regarding the case.

Sorry, but I refuse to comment on pure propaganda videos. You need to present me with a reputable news source, or an actual video of an actual incident(like the Oscar Grant III videos).



To think, I actually agree with them that the officer used excessive force against Oscar Grant III, but because of the constant witch hunts of officers whom are doing their job well within reasonable limits, I'm willing to overlook the blatant abuse of power of the few cops. After all, God knows the villagers need a witch to hunt, and without one they will start to hunt innocent people.

I'm pretty sure that setting landmines to kill cutters, whom often time had the legal right to cut, is far more brutal then a cop kicking the crap out of a suspect resisting arrest. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not expert on frag mines, but surely something designed to practically mutilate someone is more brutal then someone giving someone a couple bruises, no?
