kids are definately dumber these days, I'm not saying all kids are, I know of plenty that are not, but the majority of the younger generation is just plain dumb, lacking commonsense, work ethic and above all else, just plain knowledge in simple areas....

Look at the cartoons/shows kids watch these days, very few actually have any sense, or atleast beneficial, instead they are dribble, and children immatate the dribble and become to think like that

there shouldn't be kids fooling around in busy streets or pushing kids off sdewalks because they think its funny, you prove to me that the majority of kids these days are smart...

Kids do stupid crap, all generations have done stupid crap.It's the nature of the child to do stupid crap, children are not supposed to have commonsense, that's something that is learned through life experiences. Work ethic has nothing to do with intelligence, it's only indicative of laziness.

Look at the shows adults watch, most of it is "reality TV" shows, AKA mindless dribble. Hell, even the cartoons of old were nothing more then slapstick comedy.

I shouldn't have been fooling around with Diamondback Rattlers or Cottonmouths. Nor should I have been jumping down holes that were twice as deep as I was tall.

tbh mate, i'm old skool and firmly believe in (amongst other things) education starts in the home, thats to say, commonsense and discipline and having a firm set of rules your kids have to abide by...for instance...if/when my boys do something stupid and either get hurt or get into trouble one of the first things i ask is "are you stupid?", since i have NEVER called my kids stupid they always reply "no", i then ask them why they did it and 90% of the time they work out for themselves that whatever it is they did-was because of lack of thought. the outcome, they never make the same mistake twice, so, i still insist that the kids on the streets and things like drinking excessively which youngsters seem to do nowadays is because of the home environment and the systematic attack of the family unit over the past 60/70 years (if not longer), the root causes of all this are much deeper and begin with woman's lib.

commonsense is gained through age, but it is also something children should possess, I know I did/do.

and I am not arguing with the fact that todays TV is dribble, because 90% of it is, cartoons of old, alot of them were pretty stupid, but most of them had something todays lack, a MORAL in the story. whether it be something as simple as the tortoise and the hare. atleast it would serve a purpose

and its not 100% the kids fault, its parents, and you know what its companies and the government too, its a joint effort.

I don't watch any of the cartoons of today, but I am sure they still have cartoons that have "morals". But even if they didn't, it's not the kids taking the morals out of the cartoons it's the adults. For the most part, society has largely turned it's back on morality. Which, BTW, could be blamed as a ripple effect caused by all the retarded children from the last 30-50 years growing up and gaining positions of power.

It is most definately the parents fault for kids under 14-15 years old.
that part I agree 100% with, but beyond that it stops being the parents fault, as they are old enough to know better, when I say kid I mean between the ages of (4-18).

because, when you reach that age you know right from wrong, you know what you should and shouldn't do

When you reach that point you know what your doing, and you are responsible for your actions, noone else

mate, i understand what your saying but people are not preprogrammed to suddenly have realization of something simply because they are 18, as i said, if your not taught morality and responsibility from young, you wont have those traits when you grow up. it goes without saying that everyone knows right from wrong but knowing and living it are 2 very distinct and different things.

as i said, i hear you, when your an adult you should take responsibility for your actions, simple cause and effect rules. but someone whose grown up in an abusive atmosphere is more than likely going to grow up into an abusive person themselves so again, childhood plays a major part in the kind of person you will grow into and we cant escape that fact.



maybe we should have like a 3 strike rule only instead of just going to prison (and depending on the severity of the crime) you get neutered so we can clean out the gene pool lol

but seriosly kids today in general are not stupider than they used to be when i listen to the storys of what my dad and grandad used to get up to it's a wonder that they are still alive to tell me and it's probabley because they didn't have huge hiways and traffic or stricter laws that the survived/ stayed out of jail. modern media just means that now instead of hearing from a local group of dumbasses you now hear of the whole country's uber stupid but the majority are still just as smart as they were there may be a few more extra dumb kids but i doubt it.

i think the way a kid acts and what he/she grows into is largely dependent on how their parents act. if their parents smoke/drink themselves into oblivion, you think the kids might do the same thing? also, kids who have been "sheltered" their whole lives are more likely to take a lot more risks and be more reckless when they get into college and get away from home.

I don't think there are "dumber" people today than say 30 years ago. There are just more of them because the overall population is a lot higher. So more of the "dumb" people just means you notice them that much more. I blame it on TV. Leave it to Beaver isnt on anymore to teach us not to stick our heads in between the iron bars of a fence.

In my opinion, no. I've heard enough stories from grandparents and other people from "Yesterday" to know that those generations did stupid things too. I think its just all this uneducational crap we have for TV that makes everyone believe that "this" generation is any less intelligent than previously.. Which would be why I don't watch TV other than the odd half hour of SpongeBob
I do however, agree that this generation is much, much lazier than any previously.. But that can be said by just about any generation to the next.
