Best concept album?

what is the best concept album of all time? by concept album i mean an album where all the songs have a theme and tell the same story. the album is judged on both the quality of the story and the songs. my top 5 would be

metropllious pt 2 - dream theater
tommy - the who
operation mindcrime- queensryche
the wall - pink flyod
ok computer- radio head

in that order

but what do you think is the best concept album ever
Flow with it

I think you just won the thread  But yeah - That album ^ would be my only suggestion due to the fact most of the bands I listen to have a "philosophy" or ideals which are mentioned throughout almost all their albums which isn't really what you're looking for. Thanks for wasting your time to read this 8)

Heh, Ziggy Stardust was one of the first albums I ever listened to from start to finish. I had it on repeat so much that I'm surprised the CD didn't wear out. Sheer brilliance from start to finish.

Most of that whole album(do that call them that any more....note to papa not to date himself) was writen on a tour, and recorded on the fly. yes brilliant.

Juliet Letters
elvis costello

not a rock album by any standard, write for string quartet (that in it self for this artist make it special in it's own way), but with elements of jazz and rock mix in. Based around the fact that Juliet still receives letter to this day from the love lorn.

Re: Best concept album?

yea it's still called an album

first of all i have to apologise for leaving out bowie i cant belive he sliped my mind he should have had the number 4 slot for ziggy star dust

Juliet letters sounds like it would be worth a listen i might have to track it down

if you like string quartets with a twist i would recogmend apocalypto they are an incredable mix of heavyness and clasical music
Flow with it

Excellent stuff indeed. Was listening to Bowies stuff the other day (again  ), a true artist.

There's a band called MGMT or something and I listened to some of their stuff. One song named "Weekend Wars" - I'd swear it was from a Bowie album.

heh not like i need your approval :P i like what i like and i pride myself in having.... odd tastes in music...... i mean back in a Technical Drawing (blueprints and such) class, i was listening to Misery Signals new album Controller, one of my classmates was curious what i was listening to and was surprised to hear metalish stuffs.......

well i might aswell throw Tool - 10,000 days into the mix, even though some tracks are repetitive etc...... still good music, if you can just not focus on the pseudo intellectuallism they so frequently spout.... (like those ppl who play video games and hate them for their lack of realism..... its a GAME its S'POSED to be FUN. and hey, CoD4 is fun, but thats another story...... you get my point tho.)
