The complicated part. They should be SG race linked. When you create an alliance, the type of alliance you create is dictated by your race.

For examples..

Type G: A Goa'uld Alliance could only contain Goa'uld and Tauri. (The Goa'uld have a TREATY with the Asgard, not an alliance. Tauri = Jaffa?)

Type A: An Asgard could contain Asgard and Tauri. (Asgard have often used the Tauri to help..)

Type R: Replicators can only be in a replicator alliance. (Replicators destroy all...and ally with none).

Type T: The Tok'ra can have Tauri and Tok'ra in theirs (The Tok'ra lead the Tauri and vice - versa, again the Asgard may be allies, but dont follow either of the others).

Type Ta: The Tauri can have Tok'ra and Tauri in theirs. (The Asgard are allies, but they rarely do anything under Tauri instruction...)

I think, if role play is to survive and a race wide spirit is kept then it needs to be like that immediate. These multi race alliances should be disallowed. Already I see Tauri, Asgard, Goa'uld and replicators sharing alliances...it is ridiculous.

I disagree alittle bit here. In order for this to be a true role playing game it requires versatility. anyone can work with anyone else if it is to their benifit. The Goa'uld and the replicators would work with whom they felt benifited them. While yes the simple spider reps kill kill kill the Human form ones have from time to time tried peaceful methods. and Nothing should stop tauri from working with anyone. the Tok'ra can also work with anyone as they are for the most part a Goa'uld subgroop. As for the Asgard well we do what we want, maybe the reps or the Goa'uld have found something we need to help with the cloning problems. The time frame for this game is not defined and the universe could be in chaos and flux with splinters within every faction. Who knows like minded individuals will always work towards a common goal.

Re: Alliances

aye... perhaps so, and I considered it. Lets not forget that in 99% of the circumstances you listed they were very very very rare and on top of that disgustingly special circumstances.

However it will kill the role play. Inevitably.

Role play is the spirit of the game, and this is a mmoRPG...I rest my case.

Its a 50/50 choice really...

you either choose role play and a few limitations to maintain it, or you let it all go freely and I promise role play will not last anywhere near as long as it could, people will lose massive amounts of interest they will demand the wrong and new updates and we will just get another SGW main on our hands.

Re: Alliances

what i think would help would be a race leader much like in chaos i liked that idea except no race bank or upgrades that just leads to a one horse race in the end but a race leader who you can pledge you support two would be good at least then he has an excuse to mass the other races rather than his voters and could introduce a true race war :)

or if a few of us just got together and forced a race war by just massing an entire race lol

but as far as i can see the system lords alliance and replination have the idea right and id like to see a dedicated asgard and tauri version i believe that would help out

Re: Alliances

I just thought, if we do get the proper alliance pages in, can we have a small recruitment section in the origin Sector of the forum ...
