The process is more rigorous than the one we used for the Awards.
Steps have been established to review any suspect votes prior to announcing the winner.
No system is perfect. However, we feel that this is the most transparent and open process available to us at this point in time.
Any learning we make during this election will be available for future implementation, as is the case with the recent Awards Program.
not at all..
several points..
1. The Ombudsman is a forum elect, not an ingame one...it should be based solely from FORUM accounts, not ingame ones.. you see where as they are linked, and ingame player who never uses the forum is not going to make use of the Ombudsman, whilst as there are people who use the forums that do not have an ingame account who might. Definitely not clear cut.
2. There is a big list of people who use the forum, and bigger list of those who do not. How much do you want to be that we can pop along ingame find a unregistered forum user, get one of the old multu's out change the forum name, or not even bother with that.... EXAMPLE, I found an account ingame.. Ortogon, ID 19204442. I have a forum multi account called Obvatius. I post Ortagons ID under the name Obvatius. Bingo Bango, one vote. I have a second multi, called.. FBA, Firebird Aces ingame, ID: 1912087. Are you going to message ALL the voters ingame?
You prove to me that every person that has voted has an ingame account to make the use of ID relevant, and everyone of those forum accounts is not a multi obviously as I stated this can be gotten around by messaging them ingame, then you explain to me why whether they have an ingame account or not it has any relevance on this election. I should have the entire of the Nemesis Quarter come ans sign up for the forums 20+ members, get them to find their friends.. 3-4mill army sizes, never used the forums before in their lives, but have an ingame account..would not have a clue what they were voting for, only that they should vote.
The Ombudsman has nothing to do with the game itself, it is a purely forum role. You need a post count limit. Its the only way to keep a vote like this reasonable..there will always be casualties but they are acceptable losses for the fairest possible outcome...even so at the end of the day these things are and always will be popularity contest's as Clarkey emphasised.
I also add, that by definition.. the Ombudsman is meant to be appointed by the governing body... IE, the Admins and the mods.
I still maintain this should be the top 3 are taken away and then the admins and mods decide. Its how it was done in the past, how it should be.
