where i live and may others yes qwerty is the be all and end all. otherwise not so i know this. but in any case the simple fact is that for ppl in western culture where they mainly use qwerty, transitioning to dvorak will be a waste of time and money through lost productivity in the business world. i didnt particularly say that it is the trend 'worldwide' did i?

No you didnt say it, but you did imply it by insisting that the business world & yes you said world :p would suffer greatly from a change. Well the businesses in places like russia etc dont seem to suffer at all from using such keyboards or from changing their old IBM equipment (which was mostly donated or sold to them at cheap prices to shift it once it was outdated elsewhere) to equipment that was made in their own country (ie changing from western Qwerty to Dvorak).
Oh and actually the transition to Dvorak would be relatively painless compared to the kind of keyboards that we would be forced to use if rules about health&safety regarding RSI & Carpel Tunnel were followed. Such keyboards are very strangely shaped and can take upwards of 12 months to learn how to touch type on due to key layouts & keyboard shape. And no they arent Qwerty or Dvorak either :p

you obviously dont get it. changing from most technology to another in business will result in down time and lost productivity. i said business world in reference to business and not the average End User.

can you provide fact to support your claims? if this really is the case, then there would still be a decrease in productivity, even if a gradual change took place.
change in this manner brings lost productivity to business etc. there is no way around it.

If there is any lost productivity, the increased typing speeds with the Dvorak keyboard would make up for it in no time.
