In his heyday, ETL had access to the forums of almost all of the major alliances in the game and the ear of the admin. Bad Wolf and I used to joke that he had a red telephone on his desk which went directly to Jason. The speed with which he could acrew information, and make things happen, was astonishing. Half of the time ETL would manipulate his opponents into destroying one another and alter the balance of power without lifting his finger; using players and alliances like pawns on a chessboard. That, to me, is power.

I think the fact that his "blog thread" still hasn't been moved yet shows there's a fair bit of power left in those paws ;)

Where would you move it? Its game history from a different perspective. I am one of the first to usually point out where a thread does and does not belong, but I find little reason why his thread does not belong in SGW General.. I suppose if we had to move it by popular request it would belong in This and That or writers corner..but yeah.

A Blog Thread, recounting his personal history, admittedly with wider focus on ingame activities (but whose character history doesn't have?) - kinda the archetype for The Writers' Hall, no?

Anyway, don't want to argue about it, just pointing out the kitty's staying power was all - heck, he got away with a thread announcing he was going to do a blog in advance of it. :-D

Re: Who are the most powerful people in this game?

I would like to say that most of the potential power of this game are the noobs. Im not sure how admin would figure how many new accounts are created and how many stay active after 2 weeks or 6 months.

I beleive we as a community need to figure out why soo many noobs give in and become inactive is it down to a lack of guidance, random massings for ME or daring to hit the wrong allaince, not knowing how create allaince forums. those are just a few suggestions cos I myself dont know.

As for Fuall and TTF I would say its not completely down to these allaince groups as they have a higher proportion of older accounts, with te history of these accounts/allainces there is bound to be bad blood.

I see that the main problem is stagnation in the lack of new players to change the dynamics of allainces/empires and the SGW community itself. Lets face it apart from competing to have the best stats we are mainly here for socialising.

Re: Who are the most powerful people in this game?

My views differ a little, i started with sgw, went into a small alliance, was taught to raid and pick up pieces that were left over, i fought like a dog to grow and got dispondent, but i kept to it...

Then i found the black market and a cute little plastic card in my wallet. bought a few things and tried again, grew better with more resources it started speeding up. Its not an "all natural" account, but its different types of gameplay and it keeps players in the game that run the markets for us etc... as the wheel turns round, my account is 2nd hand, i had to buy it since i left last year due to personal reasons. I knew i was coming back, it was just a case of when. We spend 1000's of $$$ on EA games and alike, whats skipping some of those titles and putting cash into SGW for this month instead?

Make no mistake, this game has a ton of power in it, it is just where that power is now and what the masses want, maybe a voting system should be put into place with more power options for people like clarkey, but make sure they are audited, as no two men are the same.

I am also all for grunt marketing work, if 10 join and one stays to be an avid player, then talk to 10 million people in the world, i am sure SGW generates much $$$, I punt SGW every chance i get, boast and make it sound like the next best thing since sliced cheese, this is one of the ways we can all make this game work well. If an account is not active for 2 weeks after registration, delete it and reassign the ID. Just imagine each active player punted SGW to 1 person tomorrow, we would have many more players, maybe a loyalty program to go with it "player XXX refered me to SGW", but make sure the loyalty program is subject to a player staying in the game for more than three months or something along those lines.

My vote would be for a loyalty program of some sort to help sgw grow to full potential.

after reading the posts, I had addressed my view points on posts I thought were relevant and beneficial, to the original. The post directly addressed the loss of power due to so few players being in the game, and a few pointes on how to bring that "power" back.
PS: thanks for the attitude, MR contribution 2009.

Apologies for wasting everyones time, my post can be deleted, wow

An exit survey on a screen when noobs delete their account may help there. Of course, it shouldn't be open to long existant accounts because we tend to have our own prejudices about what is wrong with the game

As for power, I know of 1 little bloke who (was 60mill size to start with) sold 20 mill units, built rank 2 strike with it in half an hour and took down a couple of 4 trill defences on 350mill accounts just for kicks.

Power (or whatever your prejudiced view of it) can lie anywhere, because anyone can demolish anyone else if they really want to. Which, when you conclude your objective thinking about it, is rather depressing.

I am the Boogey Man...the king of the twentieth and twenty first century. The villain.

how many people addressed the absence of players as a fall of power in the game? One, maybe Nimrod or Odin.. cannot make distinctions between my forum Jesters..then you added all that self righteous "I do this and that for the game.."
You must be american...if not I will be greatly surprised.

For the record though.. Mordack was aiming more towards what individual players have the power. We all know the obvious ones.. We don't need another idiotic broken record *cough* Odin *cough* to go on about it...the masses have the power...Jason, the game admin has the power.. yadda yadda...

I wonder. Mordack, would you not class yourself among those "most powerful people"? I know only a few who would come close to the terror you *could* unleash if you would want to.. :D

The most powerful players are the ones that have a good head on there shoulders and can play with recklessness of there account for the sake of having fun. how ever the ppl that have high $ flow and use it on this game should not be included.

the people that can say they have done what they have done with out the use of $ will be the most powerful in my eyes.
