If you have defence weapons and no trained soldiers to use those weapons, when someone attacks do they get damaged.

Define 'Trained' soldiers? you will always to a base damge of 3... no matter what weapons or troops you have.
But in order to do more than that you will need guns and soldiers or mercs.
Say you had 70 defensive guns, in order to use all 70 guns you would need 70 def.mercs, def.Super soldiers, or def. normal soldiers.
Untrained units do not particpate in fighting.

I suggest you read 'The dietys Guide' for all the raw data about weapons strength Etc.

I think he/she/it means do your weps get damaged even though you have no troops to use them. IE no Supers or Normal troops. I'm not sure of the answer but I think they do.

Rereading I see you are correct both about the question and answer.
Yes, ALL weapons get damaged even if they don't have a corrisponding soldier, on both Def, and Off.
