I have seen this idea many times and don't like it one bit...

I have not been playing since the beginning... but I have been working hard to get where I am but I don't want to start over if I get massed and raided and whatever else would come in to play.. merely because I have quite a bit UU...

"cover your mouth please"

So, the only person in the top ten who has ascended more than once is:
van rain.
So either you are van rain, or you aren't very honest.
I can assure you that I'm now dizzy with respect for you...
I'd like to inform that to be in the top 10, there is no prerequisite saying that one must think. As such, being in the top 10 does not imply that you think before you post. The reminder was due to the condescending nature of your post. It was so blatant, that it was quite natural that someone remind you.

So you don't like to see people who you have never seen post, to speak their mind? So, as the players with more tenure leave, there should be no one to stand in and fill in that gap? That would be suicidal for the forums and possibly the game as well, since eventually everyone will move on. As such, you need to get over your issue with new people posting, as it is part of the game, and is quite necessary to the ongoing success of it.

I would think that it is safe to say that most everyone who has played very long, has worked hard to get where they are at.

Now, back to the original purpose of this thread.

Ohh... dear lord... I don't know... could my right now lower rank be because of ppt? and the fact that I untrained all my spies to get some needed improvements to my arsonal? hmmm... at time of post I was ranked 7, that was no lie... I am not van rain either... so by all means don't fall down... I also have no issue with new people posting... I think that you are reading into what I had written in my post... I am merely expressing my distain for this idea as I have oppossed it before... here is my opinion...

if you want the opportunity to udderly destroy someone... get to ascention...

I do realize that there will come a time where this type of idea is implemented merely to get alot of people quite but I don't want that point to be now...

I don't want to be in fear of being destroyed over night... yes trinity... I am aware that they are talking about limiting it... but in my opinion... IF... and I do mean... IF ... this is ever implemented... PLEASE make it severly limited... like maybe to a mere 200k max for a week...

Removed some unnecessary comments. Please keep on topic.

To see a practical suggestion on how strike action could be made vulnerable, check my thread on merging strike/defense.

As soon as you build an idiot proof system, somebody else builds a better idiot.

If it moves, kill it. If it doesn't move, kick it until it does move, and then kill it.

as you wish

(just a thought)
In a real battle, there are no units that are totally immune to attack or even death. In every other cyber war (game) that I have played, again, all units can be killed in one way or another. At times, certain units are harder to kill, or may have to be killed in a non-traditional fashion.

There are four types of units:
strike units
defense units
untrained units
covert operatives

Defense units are the only ones that can be killed at all right now. That is just slightly sad. Essentially any person who is actually trying to gain rank (as I believe the game was intended) is the one who is most at risk. They are the ones who have a defense, and so really are the only ones who can be hurt. Now I'm not saying that we should have all types of units dying in droves, rather that some balance point is needed.

It would make sense that all players have some type of weakness. Unfortunately, the only ones who have said "weakness" are the people with a defense. Now I realize you can sabotage offensive weapons, but that is not the point, as that takes only weapons and not personnel into account.

I would be in favor of a rule saying something like, "when a person has lost all of their defense, the rest of their forces (strike, untrained, and covert) will take up the fight in order to defend their realm. Now if you want to limit this, and say after 10 attacks on a defenseless person, that can take at max say "1 or 2%" of the defender's total remaining personnel (untrained, strike, and covert operatives) per attack, that is totally within reason. (this would be in a 24? hour period)

So at most you could lose 10 - 20% in a day. Again, this would be at most, so generally speaking loses would be/could be substantially less than this.

Like everyone else, I would not like to wake up to find my account totally demolished, so this would keep it from being totally demolished, while still being able to do some damage.

I just find it funny that if a person, or group of people want to go to war, (as it stands now) they will sell off all of their defensive weapons in order to lessen/totally negate all of their loses or potential loses. So really, a war just means you don't have any defense for quite a while, as nothing further can be done.

What we have currently is a mega stats building game. While this is all find and dandy, it is in theory at least, supposed to be a war game. I suppose it could be changed to:
The Gate Stats Building Community
or something to that affect, but that name really does not do anything for me. (I'm not advocating that we change the name, merely trying to prove a point, and show what it seems like, especially to people on the outside who are trying to decide whether or not they want to play it)
Better for everyone to think you are a fool, than for you to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
