How does sabbing work?

I'm getting ready to mass a planet thief, and he's unascended with a 32 mill army. He has over 12 mill super defenders and a bunch of mercs so it's more cost effective for me to sab him rather than straight out mass. I've only sabbed once before and that time I lost 0 spies but my covert was much larger than his. The guy I'm planning to mass has about 20 mill weapons and little to no covert so I don't plan on losing many agents. How many should I train with my covert level at 27?

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

Re: How does sabbing work?

Kinda confusing format, but I think I get it. Will I still lose spies on a successful sab?

Re: How does sabbing work?

You lose 5% of spies if successful.
50% if fail.
Enemy will detect all failures.
Enemy have a small chance detecting the name of attacker if successful, the chance decreases if you over send.

he's got 12mil SS defenders? have they got weapons? as i dont think you should try and sab until you get rid of his defence.

That depends whether it is cheaper to sab or mass down the defence.

Re: How does sabbing work?

sabbing would be my though it he is sitting on that many defenders. sab those weapons out in huge amounts then kills massive amounts of defenders with minimal losses.

but definately use the calculator. incredibly convenient to know how many you need so you dont use more then you need.

Re: How does sabbing work?

mass him, kill the 12 mil supers, put a hurting on him! dont ust sab, that alone is not worth doing. massing gets rid of his defense weapons AND defenders, a better bargain even if costs you more than sabbing alone.

i think killing off 1/3 of his total army size would be a laugh riot for you in the long run. besides he stole a planet, the only way to teach not to do that again is to mass him into the ground kill as many spies as possible strip him of his planets...

only when they lose more from you than they gain from you do they move on to someone else. this isnt always the case though but its worth a try.
