C++ Programming question
I'm looking for a FREE, not a "Free to Try" C++ Program, I like to see what it's like before getting to deep into it, I've bought 4 books about C++ with CDs, I thought the CDs contains a C++ program, but it only contains the codes that is in the book. I've search download.com and google for free C++ programs, but it isn't related to C++ or "Free To Try" software.

Could you tell me what size it is, and after downloading, does it need the internet to install? I have dial-up, and just about everyday someone uses the phone, and I can't use the internet while they are on the phone, next to slow connection.

bummer, 300 MB, it'll take a couple of days to download, with all those calls coming in interrupting my downloads on top of that, dang.
I have a few programs that makes games, but none of them are C++. Since I have a few books about C++, and don't have a program that is C++, it seems to be useless.
Anyway I just wondering whats its like before jumping to deep in this kind of industry. I am also considering to be a Video Game Reviewer or a video game tester, since playing video games is my favorite activity

I do not know what your programming skills are already mate but if you are new to programming, i would not recommend starting with C++ but with something more "simple" like visual basic or even VBA

Re: C++ Programming question
I believe "codeblocks" or something like that is free, if you're still looking for a program..
As for having dialup, I know how you feel

Well I have a few C++ Programming Books for Beginners already, just seems to be a waste of money if I didn't have the C++ software, and thats the problem, I have to pay big bucks for a C++ Program, or find a free one. I do have some other programs that doesn't allows me to write C++ like Blender. I never heard of VBA, visual basic I think I've read about that some were
Anyway I just about made my first Command Prompt program in that C++ program Kit-Fox shown me, I'll show you guys what I've did when it's finished

Re: C++ Programming question
If your starting programming there is no better start than pascal then move onto c/c++
dont go the visual basic route as it will just end up leaving you with no understanding of real programming. Not to mention when you try to move over from VB to C++ you'd be totally confused and disorientated

Re: C++ Programming question
I'm happy with that Free C++ Program, I think writing Video Games Reviews and Guides is going to be the kind of job I'm going to be working in, I think it'll be easier than C++. I'll still going to work on the C++ Programming first to see if it's my kind of thing. Just wondering what kind of gaming jobs are out there.-

Re: C++ Programming question
I really hate to tell you this but the gaming industry really sucks.
You are overworked, underpaid and given no time to recover. Most people burn out after a year or two in the industry hence its high staff turnover.
This is changing a little nowadays but even so the dev cycle of games is still frantic.
Most start as testers, which is quite hard to get into. Not only do you haveto be good at playing games but also documenting everything you do and i do really mean every little thing that you do. It will take the fun out of playing games for you.

I have to clamp my tongue about Game Tester, for the reason you given me, have to be really good at playing and document everything, and as far as it seems right now C++ is really complicated. Thats why I'm leaning towards writing, not mentioning I was better in English than Math in school, and two I rather play and talk about the game instead of making it
