they use to add to your army size, so you could use them to "bluff", but that was removed.

now the only use they have is a makeshift bank, since weapons can be sabbed, you can buy mercs to sell later at a loss. They also give APP for ascending, but the Same Naq you spend to buy the mercs would net you more APP

other then that, a few of us like to collect them, kinna like baseball cards. I personally have a "ant farm" colony of untrained mercs.

untrained mercs STILL give more APP than naq does meaning you get more APP buying untrained mercs than you do from straight naq.

the math does not lie either. it takes 2400 mercs to make 1 APP, it takes 6 million naq to make 1 APP. untrained mercs costs 1500 each, 2400 untrained mercs costs 3.6 mil naq. you get almost double the APP for the naq you spend but that doesnt matter since jason made anything above bare minimum ascensions pointless since you can just farm whatever DMU you need to make up for doing minimal ascensions.


but for those still interested in untrained mercs they do serve some purpose even now.

that 1.6 bil is nothing but untrained mercs. buying trained mercs costs you more naq than you get in return with APP.

there is no listing of untrained and trained mercs on the ascension page, only mercs, and untrained mercs were counted as mercs...hence untrained mercs give more APP.


or the game is lying...i doubt that though.
