i like, i like.
both the idea of changing the notion of attack and defense and the idea of having definable tactics.
It would decrease the racial advantages a lot, making the advantages of tauri and asguard less attractive. asgard would have trouble stealing naq still, but they would be easy to farm. However, very difficult to damage. When they do break through they would have all the time to steal naq as their armies defenses are strong.
Tauri would be easy to damage, but in return would deal a lot of fire power. They would be good at getting to the naq but might not have as much time as the asgard for stealing it.
I give this idea my seal of approval

anyone like the changes to sleips idea i suggested? it will affect the efficency % only and do 75-100% range efficency. getting the slight extra % can mean the diff between victory or defeat.

Indeed. Asgard have high defense, and will therefore take little damage. The chance of stealing from them is low. However if you do beat them, their low offense has less chance of beating your defense, thus allowing you to take everything. The Tauri have crap defense, easy to break through. However, as the old saying goes, offense is the best defense, and their high offense has a good chance of at least breaking the enemy defense as well, reducing their time to steal, maybe even chasing them out before they can steal anything. Goa'uld and repli's have the advantage of balance. I think it would really balance out the races.

This still does not solve the "asgard problem" of people with multi-billions of defence\strike, and 0 of the other.
Add something like this, it happens when YYYY's Strike is much worse than XXXX's strike (maybe XXX has 1 bil strike, and YYY has less than 350 million strike) or perhaps based on a ratio of YYYY's Strike to Defence, then this activates, but only if you would fail to win the initial attack :
XXXX's initial attack was only a diversion (reduce the amount of damage XXXX takes from defence, perhaps by 3 quarters), YYYY's lack of Strike forces meant XXXX are able to flank your defence, and attack your rear, causing (strike divided by the ratio of your strike vs their defence, so 300 million defence would mean much less damage than 30 million) worth of damage to your defence forces unopposed, and stealing some naq (equivalent to perhaps 3 quarters of what it would be if YYYY's strike was there defence)
So asgard would still win against the attack, but their lack of attack does hurt them, and they do lose naq.
Do the same for tauri if there defence is non existant. Make it "Your enemy is woefully prepared for defensive action, your forces smash through them and deal (Number) damage to YYYY's strike forces who are unaware of the attack, and are slaughtered in their barracks.

Actually, I disagree. If they have put in the effort of building such a large defense they should profit from it. It should take a similar strike score to beat, and if it is beat, then the 0 offense will rear its ugly head and cause some consequences. It would be pretty stupid if you build a huge defense to protect your massive income, only to find it nullified for no good reason.
Besides, if you have a problem with someone's single-stat tactics, wether strike or defense, you can just mass them.

While this idea is interesting, a comment in another thread made me think...
What are the spies going to do?
Maybe while the enemy is gathering Naquadah, your spies are going around and quickly trying to sabotage any weapons they can get their hands on.

Check quantum, and see the new anti-covert. Maybe this could also figure in.
